The trades aren’t bad in value imo, but with the habs most likely entering a rebuild/retool it would be very unwise to deal away 1st round picks

I agree. Ryan grew up a huge Habs fan and he would welcome playing for the team, but not sure giving away a 1st round pick is wise. Moving A. Shaw is a good move.

100% agree, we may need to add more in the Shaw trade but Bennett would be a nice addition for the habs

I was looking at A. Shaw`s contract yesterday. He still has 4 full years left at $3.9 M. He plays like he is 220 Lbs but he is only 175. He is good for 10 to 15 games, then he is injured, then he comes back plays for ten and gets injured again. I saw get what you can for him. Same thing with Alzner. Super nice guy but way overpaid and we will be stuck with him as well.

As soon someone suggested a Patches to Florida, we get deluged with these so pro favoured Habs trades for Patches. Is it even realistic to suggest that one year of Patches is worth a potential good NHLer Borgstrom, and lottery pick this and a 33rd pick. This type of Patches to Florida just keeps on repeating with IMO little value for Florida. Especially when considered Montreal gives up less to obtaining ROR and gets five years on his contract.
