I've seen a few Klef to WAS deals and this is fair value for a top pairing D (with Hedman potential) who is locked up long term on cheap deal.

I can already hear Spector writing the slam piece on Klefbom as the Oilers trade their best defenceman for another 3rd liner (the competent backup is a nice add for once though).

Get Washington to throw in a car for Jesse and it's a deal.

Washington is over paying for Klefbom. I agree that Grubeaur would be the back-up goalie Edmonton has needed - I don't seem them getting Buraskovky. I could see a second round and a conditional 3rd round pick being sent back to Washington for this deal.

Klefbom isn't their best defenceman. Nurse is a lot more stable and has a better overall game than Klefbom. Nurse and Larsson are probably the only two untouchables on that back end if the Oilers were going to move one of them.

I'm not bullish on Nurse in the slightest: his dominance in junior has yet to translate into the NHL. Klefbom is better, just had a terrible year. I want to see how he plays with a clean shoulder.

Watching Nurse over the last 2 NHL seasons plus watching him in the OHL, he has become somewhat of a young version of Pronger. He has become more disciplined with his hits and his hockey IQ with and without the puck has been getting better every year. I'd like to see Edmonton hold on to Klefbom and Nurse grow together and become a true #1 pairing together.

If I knew Klefbom would have a bounce back season, I'll take it. But at this point, we could find another option without giving up Burakovsky if Klefbom is a risk.
