carolina and edmonton should pass their deals. Carolina needs a number 1 center not a barely top 6 player with a top 9 for a number 2 defenceman fualk who is only 26/27 so he has 3-5 great years left. Edmonton wont move their top defencemen who is only 23 for a 1st and some decent prospects there has to be involved a top prospect which chicago doesn't have much of since the constant trading of their first rounders. I can see arizona taking on hossa contract but it would take a 2nd at least.

For Carolina trade, move the picks out of there and add just a 2018 1st round pick from Nashville to Carolina and it's a good deal.

Edmonton deal won't happen and isn't good either side. Plus you don't sign a RFA to trade him, they would give the RFA rights prior to the season.

Where is Jokiharju? That is another $925K committed and you need another guy on the bench, 21 players is rare to go with, generally 22 or 23.

I didn’t even think of putting in the Nashville Pick. Thanks for that.

As for the Edmonton deal I think it is plenty fair and I think it works out for both teams. Hawks get a much needed Top 4 D Man who is signed long term.

The only reason I signed Duclair was to show what type of contract he would be in line for.

And I do not think Jokiharju makes the roster next season. He may come up due to injuries and such but I don’t see him breaking camp.

I just went with the starting lines and the one extra defensemen as an example of what they could look like. The 22nd player would probably be a revolving door with a couple AHL players.

Like the idea, but don't think the Hawks realistically have the assets to trade for two top pairing (or #2/#3) defenders. One yes, not both, though I'd love to see it.
