Being very realistic.

Description
This is without using our 2018 1st round pick. I didn't use the pick because I'm not sure if the player the Sabres will pick will be NHL ready, so I decided to see what the team would look like without using the pick.

So, when you look at this team, think about what the Sabres would look like in a couple of years with 4 1st round picks on it (1 2018 and 3 in 2019)

how is acquiring 2 goalies in cambell and schneider realistic? botts already said Ullmark is going to be one of the 2 goalies with the sabres next year barring something crazy happening. and if they were going to grab a goalie to mentor ullmark its not going to be a guy like Schneider who is a clear starter for a number of more years its going to be a guy that they can get on a bridge deal and that Ullmark can compete for the top spot with.

1. I traded for Campbell to take over for Ullmark as Amerks starter
2. Botterill said Ullmark will be 1 of the 2 goalies, doesn't mean someone like Schneider couldn't be the other guy

1. Cambell is a capable NHL goalie and is not the kind of guy you grab for the minors, Most likely Ukka Pekka Lukkannen will be in Roc next year, if not they will sign someone younger to player down there.
2. Schneider still has 4 years left at 6m you said so that is exactly not the kind of guy your bringing in to play with Linus if you want Linus to become the starter you have to player him for 45-50 games next year to see how he handles the load, you don't want to be paying Cory 6m to play around 30 games expecially when there are a lot of good goalies hitting the market this summer. My vote is carter hutton on a 2 year deal for no more than 3m

1. I have to agree that Schneider makes no sense for the Sabres if anything you are just allowing NJD off the hook of what looks like a very expensive back up goalie to Kinkaid. The NJD have the cap space to have Schneider be that very expensive back up so I really do not see a trade that works out with NJD;

2. In addition you give up Fasching and the rights to Lehner to acquire Schneider that just does not compute for me but I am a few sandwiches short of a picnic lunch;

3. Would the Sabres be better off sending Lehner to a team that is in true need of a goalie...... NYI & PHA come to mind.... I am not a Talbot fan so EDM as well;

Campbell would need to clear waivers to be sent to Rochester next year, and it's fairly likely that some team would scoop him up before he makes it there. Luukkonen isn't ready for the AHL, he'll stick around in Europe for another year or two at least. Most likely, we'll sign an AHL vet to backstop until a prospect can make that jump.

I don't think Buffalo would have much interest in signing up for 4 more years of an under-performing goalie. Also, why does New Jersey do this trade unless they're worried about Schneider long term and want to get out of his contract. He can play 1A/1B just as well as Lehner can.
