Yeah, both trades are not good. Pittsburgh isn't giving up the best forward in the NHL and no way Blues get O'Reilly for that package.

That’s not St.Louis’ garbage. Those are all still good players, and Thompson and Barbashev are good prospects. I agree, it’s not worth retained ROR, but it’s still a decent package.

I say the Blues get snubbed. Tarasenko’s going to b a prolific scorer for longer than Crosby, and Letang’s constantly injured the Blues will prob get 2-3 good years total out of him. Parayko’s healthier and younger and can provide more than Letang.

Crosby's style will allow him to play for at least 8 solid more years. 1 more than when his contract ends. Sometimes, being able to score goals just isn't good enough. Ask Ovechkin. Best goal scorer of this generation and he can't win to save his life. I love Tarasenko, but if i had to choose between the two it's no question who i'd take. Even with Parayko's health and age, cap hit, and so on doesn't balance out the trade. Crosby is the best overall player in the league so he basically has unlimited value, especially at a very generous cap hit of 8.7 mil

Barbashev is not that good. Thompson is the only thing interesting coming back. Then the Sabres have to take on 2 older non productive players and retain. Thats not a good deal at all. Everyone seems to think the Sabres HAVE to move ROR which is not true. Teams are going to have to pry him away still.

Yes you are correct they are all good players, and the trade is reasonably fair, But IMO they are not the age that will help Buffalo.
The Pit trade while you are correct that Letang is often injured, but he along with less than a dozen other defensemen is a true #1 D-man. And I am not short changing McDavid, but Crosby is the best player in the NHL.
IMO Crosby, S <=> Tarasenko, V. + Parayko, C.
Letang, K > 2020 2nd round pick (STL) + 2019 1st round pick (STL)
So I cannot see that trade happening even though I know Tarasenko is an elite player.
On the other hand, maybe if the Pens win the cup for the 3rd time they make that trade to reload. They would still have Malkin, Murray and Kessel, Parayko and Tarasenko. So I maybe talking myself into agreeing with the trade.

Regarding the ROR deal...why do you think that a bunch of crap players are worth a good one? I don’t understand why people think others teams want our garbage. Also, Crosby is a HOFer. They aren’t trading him that. It’s just silly. Maybe kessel, but probably not bc why would pit? Crosby makes his line better. Tank doesn’t. He’s an elite scorer, without a doubt, but Crosby is in another tier.
