Dumo is better than Schmidt... Going from Dumo to Schmidt isn't worth the upgrade of Sheahan to Haula.

I disagree, Dumo may have been good in recent games but most games he isn't. But that's just my opinion. As far as facts, Schmidt can defend and put up offense while Dumo can only defend. Haula is better than Sheahan, Haula had a 30 goal season and this trade retains on Haula. So not only are you getting a center that's a lot cheaper than Sheahan but also someone who can score a lot.

without dumo pens don't win the cup while letang was injured last year. dumo is a top pairing shutdown defender and schmidt doesn't compare. haula isn't as good on defense or faceoffs as sheahan. we don't need a 30 goal scorer as our 4th line center, we need someone who is good on faceoffs and the PK which is sheahan. then you traded hagelin so hags and sheahan would be gone as well as dumo.. our penalty kill would be garbage

I agree with you in that sense about all of those guys you mentioned. But sheary and rust are good defensively, personally I really like shearys two way game a lot and they're both fast. Tavares can also kill penalties. Haula would be battling Brassard for that last PK center slot. Personally though, I think they should just use Crosby on the PK like NYI does with Tavares. Crosby is good at faceoffs and he's a great, smart two way player who can do everything.

i don't know why sully hasn't used brassard on the PK alot. he' not that great on faceoffs but he came from a heavy defensive system in ottawa so he has to have great instincts on defense. i'd like to see more of him on the PK, crosby should only PK in critical times of games other than that he shouldn't just to keep him fresh.

If I take your points about Haula and Schmidt being better than Sheahan and Dumo I don't see why Vegas makes that trade while taking hunwick and retaining on Haula. If your trading the 2 better players, retaining salary and taking a cap dump in hunwick your going to need to add more than what will be a late 2nd round pick.

I do agree that Dumo is limited in offensive production but he can move the puck and is solid in his own end, although being a bit more physical would be ideal. Schmidt has more offensive upside but won't be able to cover for letang like Dumo does.
Haula does score a lot more than Sheahan but thats a prime reason why vegas wouldn't trade him in this transaction and want more.
Tavares will be signing for more than 8.3 mil but hey a dream is a dream and if came to the burgh for that so be it. The league wouldn't know whether to cry or wind their watch.

I agree with what you said about the way they play and that's why I made the trade. A lot of people in the analyst and snazzy sport positions may value these pens players more than I do which is why I think the deal could work.
