I don't see Calgary giving up on Bennett for anything less than a 1st rounder. I think its more likely that they include him as part of a package to get something else.

Sam Bennett for Anthony Duclair seems like a fair and good ol' hockey trade. However, knowing Calgary fans, and because Bennett was such a high draft pick, I am sure a lot of them will overvalue his worth on the trade market.

CGY needs a top 6 RW. Bennet has all the potential in the world, just needs to play with higher caliber players. He’s still only 21 and IMO is on the verge of a break out. Realistically, I don’t see CGY getting rid of him unless they pair him with a d-man or prospect and get a solid top RW in return.

Their production so far is almost identical, yet I think bennett has a higher ceiling. IMO

@cbailey @MG1986 @Caletti12 Would Duclair + Forsling for Bennett and a 3rd (not 2018) work?

I could see Duclair + Draft pick for Bennett but I think if Chicago was going to trade Nashville's first they'd want something else coming back too.

They both had huge expectations coming into the NHL and both have had bright spots amongst an other dark very underperforming start to their careers. I think this deal would be saying "both needed a change of scenary" but Duclair has actually already been moved twice (Rangers to ARI and then to CHI) so it wouldn't really be that, at least for him. I think both can still be great NHL'ers, it's just finding the right environment and systems to play in.

Problem is that Chicago is not really rebuilding, so Bennett would immediately jump into what I am sure their management hopes is another competitive playoff team in 2018-2019. What they would want is someone similar who could step right into their lineup. This trade could obviously get much bigger but to simplify things, I think 1-for-1 makes a lot of sense. If you are looking for multiple assets coming back to Calgary, their best bet would be to try a team like Montreal, or even Carolina, that needs the offense and has a couple interesting assets they might be willing to give up.

I don’t think so, the last thing CGY needs is more D Prospects. They have Valimaki, kylington, andersson, fox etc with an already strong NHL D core.
