Pittsburgh doesn't have any need for an overpriced backup goalie.

They might considering their defense + Murray are currently peeing down their legs.

The O'Reilly trade is quite interesting. Would really add some much needed speed and scoring on the wings. Huge fan of both Kostin and Fabbri. I wonder what blues fans would think?
I like Rodrigues as the 3rd line center. He would have to assume more defensive responsibilities in that role. Hope he is up to the task. Very curious about Casey as 2nd line center. Without O'Reilly there to shelter him, he will have to prove he can play a big role for such a young guy.

I Just don't see Pittsburgh making that trade. They are loaded with good young goalies, and wouldn't want Lehner. I wouldn't mind snagging Jarry, or Gustufsson from them to replace Lehner tho.
I think this is one of the better and more realistic O'Reilly trades I have seen tho.

No, not a chance in hell PITT would trade for Lehner
    And I’m a Sabres fan

I do think O'Reilly gets overvalued in most of these hypotheticals. Yes, he's an extremely talented defensive center, but he's not Crosby. I know Mittelstadt hasn't proven it at the NHL level, but I was beyond impressed with him at the WJC. I think he makes the jump easily.

Who do you think would be a good trade target for him? Not trying to be snarky, just curious. Maybe a 3rd rounder in return?

    Carolina, Isles, Calgary, Philly...
someone like that who hasn’t had luck with their starting goalies might take a chance
    I think a 3rd sounds about right,
maybe turns into a 2nd if Lehner plays well for them?

Yeah, I could see maybe Calgary I guess. Lehner seems more of a reliable backup at this point. Doesn't have the right temperament for a starter.

No team will trade for him as a backup right now though,
Bc they’d have to give him a qualifying offer of at least 4mil to keep his rights (or he becomes UFA)
No one is paying that for a backup
So our only hope in trading him is if a team wants to take a shot with him as their starter

What if the Sabres just don't give Lehner a qualifying offer (this stuff confuses me so much)?

The we lose his rights & he’d become a UFA
