I’m a Habs fan and that Columbus trade would be really bad for us Columbus needs to give us more galchenyuk and pacioretty values r high and mete will be a good defencemen so I do not think we can afford giving away another D

What are you smoking? Mete hasn't proven anything yet, Galchenyuk is nothing more than a middle 6 player and Patches has 1 year left on his contract and you want more than a 1C and top 4 RHD?

That's an insane statement. Carter Hart hasn't played a game in the NHL. There's a lot wrong with that trade, but Carter Hart is still very much a prospect. He might someday be great (he might not), but by the time he is, Giroux, Simmons and Voracek will be over the hill. The only reason to trade for "a Price" (or another solid veteran goalie) is to win now. Carter Hart won't give you that. That said, trading away Giroux won't either.

There's a certain consistency to the Flyers of late:
2012-13 -- Out of Playoffs
2013-14 -- Lost in Round 1
2014-15 -- Out of Playoffs
2015-16 -- Lost in Round 1
2016-17 -- Out of Playoffs
2017-18 -- Lost in Round 1

Just sayin' .... "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds."

Galchenyuk has had what 5 years to "get better" and hasn't done it? Pric's contract is insane and that's why his value isn't what it should be.

Yes Hart is a prospect but the Flyers don't want to block his path for the next decade while Price turns into a grandpa under his current contract. Hart has better numbers in basically every category in the WHL than Price had and that is with the WHL being the top scoring CHL league which wasn't the case when Price was there. For what thew Flyers are doing, Hart is more valuable then Price.

You do know that we now have a GM that doesn't trade the future for washed up FA's now right? (not refering to Price) The Flyers have one of, if not the deepest prospect pools in the league, MTL has nothing. Have fun being bottom feeders for the foreseeable future.

Okay so saying his contract makes his value lower
So I guess all high value players should ave low contracts but u pay top money for top players price should be getting paid 10.5 he’s helped Montreal a lot and he’s played good for team canada

Agreed: That's why I said there IS a lot that is wrong with this trade, but I I was saying is that for anyone to say Hart = Price is absurd. He might someday be that, just not yet.

You had nobody get more than 55 points and this was a high scoring year. Where is the offense going to come from?

We won't be bottom feeders. We'll be middling, like we've been for 30 years. When you have enough money, you'll never suck badly enough to stay perennial doormats (hello AZ, CAR, EDM). Don't get me wrong, middling sucks, too. Truth is that the only teams that are consistently in the mix have at least one kid drafted #1 overall on their roster. PITT, TB, WIN (I count Laine as a #1) and WASH. LV is proving to be an embarrassing mistake by the league, but the franchise is off to a good start. How it does once the retreads retire will be interesting. Only really Nashville has bucked that trend, but they haven't crested the mountain and tempus fugit.

With a goalie like Price, you shouldn't be middling. Now that is 100% on Bergevin and his terrible trades.

Habs draft "good" players very well, but they never seem to find the hidden gems.

Mete is great. Hudon showed some flashes. Gallagher, of course, is the perfect mid-draft bit of luck. I am less impressed with drafting PK. Subban's talent was well known, just so were his antics. Teams stayed away. Habs scouts hoped he'd outgrow them. He didn't in Montreal. We'll know after tonight whether he has yet learned to just shut up and play hockey.

But you look at St. Louis, which pulls Parayko out of the third round. Ottawa with Hoffman, Pageau and Stone. Maybe it's just a case of the grass always seeming to be greener, but Habs seem to "fill spots" in their roster more than they find late bloomers and hidden gems.

Seems like the Habs have the worst luck when it comes to drafting. Galchenyuk hasn't shown any signs of becoming the prolific goal scorer he was supposed to be. Habs have been given another top 3 pick, and lets just hope they don't draw another short straw in the development department.
