Sens do not necessarily need a huge blue chip prospect, they need to shed cap for Karlsson and Duchene. At 13OA they could still snag someone like Kotkaniemi if he drops. We bring back Methot who Karlsson played amazing with, gain Faksa who is young and had a decent season and a 2nd round pick.

yes, you do need a great prospect. you have very little talent. one of those few talented players is hoffman.

also, the team listed here has 21 million in cap space, counting Karlssons current salary. plenty of room.

EDM jumps on that deal for sure. Decent 2nd pairing guy for a basically a 3rd. Not the PP specialist they need but fills the RHD void for probably 3.5M AAV?

He has not flourished in Ottawa and was a huge defensive liability this year, his value has dropped. As a sens fan I would be happy with this deal, although a late 2nd would maybe be more fair probably.

I actually like that Dallas trade for Ottawa. But that puts huge amounts of their cap on their wings. Ryan, Benn, Radulov and Hoffman are great wingers but they come with a big cap hit when combined. Including the fourth overall pick might be a bit much though, the value between picks is where I get a little iffy.

But I do like the idea.

Lol wth this is something Melnyk would do to save money, making cap room doesn’t have to include shipping off your best players for decent ones, this only makes the team worse.
