Finding Ristolainen a long-term partner

Created by: mikeyscav
Team: 2016-17 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 6, 2016
Published: Mar. 6, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Islanders see De Haan as expendable, after they (most likely) get a comparable defenseman to Hamonic in a trade, believe Ryan Pulock is ready to come up to
NHL, and go to sign Okposo and Nielsen and can't see giving De Haan big money after next season. They also free skme cap space by moving Clutterbuck who is a expensive 4th liner. In return they get a young but promising C/LW in Girgensons who can be signed cheaply and can play anywhere in the top 9, a cheaper 4th line option but strong option in Deslaurier, and a 2nd round pick

Dallas decides Sharp is a little too rich for their blood. They send him off for a Ennis who is coming off a tough season a bruiser with speed and power in Bailey who is adjusting to pro game but strong enough to be in a NHL lineup.

Buffalo gives Parenteau a 2 year deal to let the prospects develop and can slide into a 3rd line role if needed.

Buffalo has a expensive bottom 6 but that will be over after the season with youngsters like Catenacci, Schaller, Fasching, and Baptiste knocking on door to become NHL regulars. Defense is also a lot stronger adding De Haan and one year older youngsters in Ristolainen, McCabe, and Pysyk who have all shown improvements this year

Like the Parenteau signing. Could the Sabres get a better partner than DeHann without giving up any assets?
Sharp may be expensive, but he is likely playing his last year. Doubt if he would waive his NTC to go to rebuilding Buffalo. Like Bailey, but Ennis might be waste at 4.6m a year.
