NYR 2017-2018 Opening Night Roster

As an overall player, sure, he brings more to the table. For almost $8 million per year, though, you have to score. You can pay 3 separate guys $8 million combined to kill penalties and "lead."
Bottom line is that neither team is in a position to take on salary, so I don't see the point.</div></div>
Neither of them are worth their contracts, but Nash's might be more appealing to NYR because it expires sooner. Thats the point i'm trying to make.

The problem with the Hawks right now is the lack of scoring depth. This doesn't address that, and really hurts the Top 4 D. Not worth it just to get younger

That is a terrible deal for the Rangers. Nash is worth more than Eller and a 2nd. Especially with that much being retained.

Eberle and Kreider could both benefit from a change in scenery. Rangers could also use a shoot-first righty. Shattenkirks inevitable raise is the reason the rangers are 2.5mil under in this mock.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LeafsFan</b></div><div><i>I have the Penguins beating out the Rangers in the first round and is probably one of my more confident picks, Yandle is good but he's not going to stop Crosby especially when paired with Klein. Lundqvist will need to get 4 straight shutouts. Only nice thing about Rangers is their immense forward depth, but is also a give and take because they don't have a number 1 scorer just a bunch of secondary scorers.</i></div></div>
lololololol. Rangers dont need 4 shutouts to beat the pens, sure the pens are hot, but the playoffs are a whole different game. To say that a pens/rangers series is an easy one to call is ludicrous. Sure the rangers have weaknesses, but lets not act like the likely starter for the pens has any playoff experience... or that this pens group as a whole has been mightily successful in the playoffs of late. The pens also lack scoring depth and defensive depth, and when games are much tighter checking as all playoff games are, they will wish they had more of both.

Most people give their team the better side of deals. Others give the opposite team the better deal and undervalue their players. Somehow you have done both. Streit is worth a hell of alot more than what hes traded for, but thats way less egregious than the god awful OEL deal. That doesnt come close for OEL. For him it would likely take Hagg, a 1st and Schenn.

BANNNNNNNN DOYLE
Not terrible but two things.
1) Eric Staal is more than likely not going to resign if Marc is traded, nor should the rangers try to retain him.
2) Pavel Buchnevich should be on that 3rd line. Too talented to be a 4th liner, would hurt his development, gotta let him play like panarin/tarasenko when they came into the league.

Epic Offseason
one of the better NYR theoreticals I have seen. Makes sense. However, I dont see the Rangers getting Steen and Shattenkirk out of Nash and Staal. I can see the Nash for Shattenkirk happening, but I think the Rangers should look for a RH shot for Staal, or trade Staal for picks, and go after Vrbata or someone of that caliber.

All kinds of bad. Why cut Girardi just to use his money on someone 1) not much better, and 2) who you may need to cut in 2 years as well in Goligoski. Also hes a lefty, Rangers have no need for another lefty. The offensive depth is also astonishingly bad. Where did Kevin Hayes Go?

Rangers fan here. Why in God's name would the Flyers ever trade Simmonds for Tyutin. Simmonds is 10x more valuable. If you're wanting to trade him for a left handed d he would draw someone like Cam Fowler+ or Nick Leddy. He is very valuable.

look at their contracts.... Gallagher @ his Cap vs Kessel @ his cap hit. Kessel is twice as expensive yet Gallagher has outproduced him this year and is just a better, harderworking player. Who gives a **** about the past 5 seasons. Gallagher is improving, Kessel is gong the other way. Gallagher 10/10 at this point in time

with respect... the Rangers have way more talent top to bottom than the Pens and can win in any and every way. Sure you could make the argument Nash, Staal, Stall, Girardi are washed up, but its not like that hasnt been the case all year and look where they are and look how they have done against the Pens. Also the whole "if" the pens play the way they should argument... they do play the way they should. They have two lines and minimal defensive depth as well. They arent beating the Rangers or the Capitals. The Forwards, D's, and Goal-tending on both those teams are better than the Pens.

Ovi doesnt really disappear in the playoffs anymore. Also i dont see the Pens beating any of the above teams. I see the Rangers as the team that handles them best based on style of play, because they can keep up with their speed while most cant, but they defend way better. The Caps could be a solid series but ultimately the Captitals would wear them down and are just too talented. In regards to the Panthers i see that as the Pens optimal match up however I think the Panthers are too deep offensively for the Penguins. I just dont see this group doing much. There is no depth to be find offensively or defensively.

In regards to this roster tho the Habs would never do that deal. One could argue Gallagher>Kessel at this point on his own.

need to get something more substantial for Yakupov. This is actually plausible and this team would be much improved however I dont see Stamkos signing there, and the team would still be short a 1st line D-Man and a Mid-6 winger.
