2018 Offseason. Trades with VAN/MTL/DAL

Created by: arafay
Team: 2018-19 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: May 17, 2018
Published: May 18, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Vancouver needs a better goalie than Nilsson so they trade for Mason to play a 1a 1b type situation, in case Demko is not ready.

Kulikov is good player but he costs too much, so the Jets need to move him. Dano is clearly not getting a shot with the Jets so we ship him off to MTL for Benn. Kulikov goes with him as a salary dump because MTL has space.

Benn is then flipped to Dallas and reunited with his brother. The jets get a 5th for Benn.

The last trade is the 4th round pick from the Stastny trade which was conditional on Eric Foley signing with the Blues before August 21st. The Jets keep the pick because he signed. I don't know why Cap Friendly has not give the Jets the pick back yet.

Enstrom will be resigned by the Jets because of loyalty and that he might play with Byfuglien in case Niku can't cover up his mistakes. Lemieux is ready and provides the 4th line with scoring. Hutchinson is resigned to fil the backup spot until Comrie is ready in 2019-2020

Stastny signs cheap to win a cup.

Vesalainen and Appleton are not ready and they both start in the AHL.

Petan, Morrow, and Comrie are first call-ups.

There probably will not be bonus overages since you can have 5.85 million in bonuses over the cap.

MTL would do that.

Why not?
The are a rebuilding team who is not going to be up against the cap this year and can retain and flip Kulikov in the 2019-2020 season. They are also getting Dano who is good prospect and is worth at least a 3rd

He said MTL would. I agree the would too but due to left/right i could see Schlemko being the guy instead. Benn although a lefty plays the right side.

Whoops. I'm sorry. I don't know why I read why before MTL.
Ok schlemko is fine as long as there is retention (1 million)

50%? That's way too much. Wpg is already saving 2M+ in the deal.

Dallas isn't going to reacquire Jordie, although you could just say that could be any other team.

Lol to hellebuyck only getting 5.5m... If it's 8 years it's at least 7m. Maybe a bridge taking him to free agency but then you might really have to pony up

You know this is his only solid season in the NHL so far. He was terrible last year. He is not going to get 7. Maybe he gets 6 but 5.5 is good
