leafs are looking for a centre to replace bozak and staal would be perfect but not at the cost of lijegren.

Thanks for the reply. Who would you insert into this trade instead of Liljegren? Or maybe another pick(s)?

R Smith and A Chiasson as depth signing are adequate for Wild, I like that. I'm not entirely sure about Hickey, though, almost 3M is pretty rich for 3rd pair defensmen.
If we clear the minor assets from the TOR trade, we are left with Staal for Brown and Liljegren. That is quality experienced 2nd line C for 3rd line wing and defensive prospect.
Given Staal's age, this deal seems fair to me or even maybe bit going MIN's way, but I doubt it will go through because Liljegren is a last year 1st rounder and they would want a bit more for that.
The other question is: what does this trade solve for Wild in the end? They lost their most productive player from last season, didn't clear much cap-space with the trade (1.4M) and didn't get any closer to winning the cup.
If this was first of moves to start a rebuild, then it might work, but it surely can't be left alone.
(Don't take this as a criticism of your thinking, I was just trying to point out the difficulty of the Wild situation that can't be solve with just 1 trade)

Thanks for your reply. I don't know if the TOR trade would be my only move either, but I thought it would be a strong start. I was trying to be as realistic as possible (maybe favoring MN a little). We cant trade a handful of players with NMC or NTC ( I dont know if TOR is on E. Staal's or not).

I do not think moving Coyle is the best option, he would get much in return and has a small cap. Nino might be another option to sell, but it is hard to gauge his value with his inconsistent play. E. Staal's value is really high now and it might be the best time to cash in. I think that this move would give us more depth and give us a little cap flexibility (I currently have 5 lines and 4 sets of D).

I also kind of agree with you on Hickey. I just thought we needed a safety net if Seeler and Soucy's game goes to crap next year.

Thanks again

Take Olofsson and Liljegren out of the deal entirely and I can see the Leafs having interest! Leafs loaded with LD prospects and weak on the right side!

I'd do Staal for Liljegren straight up.
