You'll have to pay for someone to take Matt Martin and there's less than a .001% chance Buffalo would offer that trade for your average backup G.

Definitely not trading an almost guaranteed first and a second for a backup. That's laughable.

I think Leafs have 3 very capable (above average, stats wise) Backups in McElhinney, Pickard and Sparks, but never mind Buffalo, the entire NHL market doesn't see the position as one they will invest in. A single 4th round pick might be the anticipated return!

Sparks is a good AHL starter but his positioning is horrible and I think he will get murdered in the nhl

I would have agreed with you up until this year. . . . .I think his conditioning has allowed him to completely change his style and mobility, to where I think he's got a solid chance to make an NHL mark. As good as he was regular season, he's been even better through the playoffs. I hope he gets a shot somewhere next season. . . . I hope Toronto!

Nice rant, now try being factual. Last year GAA 2,15 Shot percentage .936 in 18 games. Now Sabres certainly wouldn't give up two seconds for a one year then UFA goalie

Leafs just have to let Sparks be a Leafs next October to see if he can play in the NHL. McBackup can't play forever. Also you have to let your minor leaguers know, excellent play will be rewarded.

Sick..he's a 35 year old journeyman goaltender. And good for him, he had a good year last year. Still is a career .909 + 2.86 Goalie. No way in hell worth 2 2nds.

I agreed that he wouldn't be worth two seconds, but he's been a pretty solid career being a second fiddle.
