Very interesting trade if you were taking this years performance from the Oilers side, and last years from Domi.

First, does it send a bad message to players if you sign a franchise-type player to a long term extension and then move him the following season?

Edmonton frees up some cap space, but I'd be very worried about Chiarelli-ing this deal up by selling low on Larsson & Drai, and probably valuing Domi a lot higher than he should be at this point. That's also a lot to spend to move from 10 to 5. Unless you're sold on the fact that Bouchard is a franchise dman, you'll probably see someone similar slide to 10.

Definitely not enough coming to Edmonton domi is nice as is chyrcrun but no way I trade drai especially to a divisional rival and Larsson wont get moved its creative but isnt enough

Thanks for the feedback. I've only heard that EDM is looking for speedy wingers, and Domi certainly is that, and is monumentally better than he was last year.

I don't know if it sends the right message, but overall the sense was that EDM would be looking to make some changes.

I don't think Bouchard is a franchise changer, but I thought EDM may want to grab a Boqvist of Hughes or Wahlstrom and would push for the pick. I think AZ begrudgingly moves off of 5 and takes BPA at 10.

Moving on from Chychrun will not sit well with the AZ fan base, so I think there is pain on both sides for these division rivals.

Add in Dylan Strome and then it gets considered. Probably take out Larsson and Wood as well.

Good luck getting Joe Thornton for any amount of money. He has publicly said he is taking less money to stay with the sharks.
