As A Bruins fan - I hope so with FLA trade. I would love to see your team get slower.

Also - I don't see any world in which you trade Martin for what is essentially a 3rd pick & 4th rd pick. 2 years @2.5m for a player that probably won't play more than 80 games over next two seasons combined. The Leafs are one of the few teams he actually has value to because you are young, but you don't even need him. You'd be giving up a 4th and Martin to get a 5th back - IMO

Yes, he is. Well, he might not be(TBD), but that is his 100% his market value.
99.9% of all people who "sign" Carlson have him at 7-8m.
Especially with Cap going up. He is playing 26m a night in the playoffs. He played 25m a night during the regular season
He led all dmen in scoring. Yes there are guys on better deals, but A) they were younger and under control when they signed them or B) signed a few + years ago.
Krug makes 5.25 - Carlson is better
Barrie 5.5mm - Calrson is better
Yandle 6.3m - Carlson is better
Letang 7.2m - Carlson is better

Carlson would sign for 5 million AAV if it was the 2008-2009 season...

His agent will negotiate based on player comparable contracts, and factor in what percentage of the cap those players got at the time of signing. The best agents in the NHL all do this - the cap is fluid from year to year, so the AAV varies accordingly...
