So you think an aging Towes is worth the 3rd OA pick, their 2nd best D prospect and their top forward? MTL needs to rebuild not trade their future for an aging C.

Arizona is not a salary dumping ground anymore. Everyone needs to stop that.

WPG is doing Chicago a favor by taking Anisimov's inflated contract off Chicago's hands. They're not going to move down in the draft to do that.

Also, Tavares isn't signing for anything less than a 7yr term.

Sorry man, but this ain't realistic

1st, Toews is still elite, he may have had a few bad years offensively but his possession and advanced stats were elite...he just turned 30..so barely aging and is one of the best leaders in the NHL....oh, his mom is french Canadian, and he speaks French fluently. Montreal isn't in total rebuild...not as long as they have the best goalie in the world....as soon as they trade Price, this trade is off the table. Noah Juulsen isn't that great....he's not a top 4 pairing, maybe just outside of that. Pac has one year left of the deal...you aren't getting Toews for nothing...soo I see nothing wrong with this deal as is. It amounts to the 1st and Juulsen.
Hossa only has 1 million per year left on that contract in real money....it barely costs Arizona anything in return for the contract.
Anisimov is cost controlled and can take that 2nd line Center spot, they aren't going to sign Stastny...it doesn't make sense for the money he will command. Chiarot is a luxury they probably don't have space for going forward...they have so many prospects...this trade makes sense to me.
Fine with Tavares...7 years then.

Toews has a full NMC so he probably says no. Not to mention his 10.5 cap hit is nearly unmovable since he is only about a 55-60 point player who is only going to further decline through his 30s. I would put him as one of the worst contracts in the NHL and you think you get a return like that for him? If you want Toews gone expect to retain 20% of his contract and find a contender he would be willing to play for, and even then, don't expect much back in return.

Wow, how many captains in the NHL have 3 Cups? Toews is and always has been way more than just points.....I guarantee you a poll of NHL players still puts him in the elite category...Fine, Hawks flip first rounders as well.

Bad ideas aside, you and every other armchair GM continue to ignore the fact that the foundation for your entire idea crumbles when Jonathan Toews points to his NMC and says "go **** yourself."
