2018-19 Summer Ideas (Kessel deal)

Created by: zdiamond1919
Team: 2018-19 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: May 29, 2018

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Pit / Edm Trade
Pittsburgh gets a maneuverable 4th line C/W with RFA control and EDM gets a young speedy winger that has shown flashes of being able to play with an elite center.

PIT/ARI trade
For PIT you give yourself a dominate top 4 defensive group with OEL and a talented gritty winger in Domi. The only thing I wouldn't like as a Penguin fan is 1 year left on the OEL deal but he is a big time defenseman in this league. For ARI they get a long term replacement in Maatta on the left side of the back end and they get a 92 point scoring winger. However they have to eat Hunwick's contract in the process.

PIT / MTL trade
PIT gets a strong depth/bottom pairing D and a very serviceable bottom 6 forward. For MTL they get a very good 3rd line C and a potential top 6 winger. Signing Pateryn is another very tough / physical defenseman that already has played with Olekziak in the past with Dallas. They possibly could sign another depth forward but I really feel that they should search in house for that especially with the following year having to sign Guentzel and potentially OEL. Let me know your thoughts but when I look at this lineup on paper its scary.

Arizona isn't moving on from OEL or Domi anytime soon.
1) Maatta is nowhere near close enough to OEL to even think he'd be a serviceable replacement.
2) Domi loves it in Arizona and his talents fit very well with the rest of the teams.
3) Kessel would be nice to have but he's also 30 and doesn't fit the teams future all that well.

I agree with u on all except the Domi part, I really think he would welcome a change and us here in Pittsburgh have heard that King Mario wants (his Godson and his BF son) Max Domi to be traded for and told GMJR this too.

Totally understand, I just don't think the Yotes are ready to give up on Domi yet. Chayka more then likely sees him as a core piece and a leader in the clubhouse, which, after the last couple of offseason's, they're not looking to disturb it too too much. Overall, I think the trade is decent, just not a great fit for the Coyotes.

Yep, saw that same report as well. Just for the Yotes, unless they're blown away by an offer, I don't think they're in the mindset of trading him right now.
Him and Strome showed chemistry in the last 20 or so games of the season and the future of the Coyotes depends on Strome becoming a top line center, so anything they can do to help his development, they're all ears.
