GMBots says Calgary I appreciate you making an offer for ROR but your offer is not palatable to the Buffalo Sabres.

Bennett can not be the cornerstone of an ROR deal and what you are offering is Bennett being the cornerstone.

Harmonic a nice add to a trade but not when the foundational element is Bennett.

A young goalie prospect is not sexy enough..... I have young goalies in my system that I really like..... if I am moving a legit #2C I can not be getting a young goalie in return unless that piece is the cherry on top.

If Calgary and the Sabres are to make an ROR deal you will have to start with Hamilton or Brodie then add to that and see where we end up.

Let's keep the lines of communication open as I think our teams match up well for a potential ROR trade.

Bennett is a former 4th overall pick, who had a solid rookie season, but has noticeably regressed the following 2 years. Seeing him play he is a hard worker with lots of skill, grit and defensive play. Had a horrible shooting percentage last season but constantly has more takeaways then giveaways. In my opinion he still has good value, and is a younger version of O'Reilly but also may never be as good.

Hamonic, is a player who teams were lining up for last summer and the year before. Had a very slow start to last season, but is a good defenceman who plays physical, good defensively, can skate and makes tape to tape passes. IMO if a defenceman goes off of Calgary this summer it will be Brodie, after his horrible season paired with Hamonic. They didn't mesh. Before this season Brodie was constantly a top 2 d-man on the flames since the 2013-2014 season, and I would hate to see him go, especially if he can play like his old self. This is the reason I would prefer to see Hamonic go, even though we just traded for him last summer.

McDonald was the first goalie taken in the 2014 draft 34th overall (before Demko from Vancouver lol). Not nearly as much value in him as there used to be but the value in Bennett & Hamonic make up for it, especially since O'Reilly's contract is so large, and the flames do not want to pay anymore more than their Captain, Giordano (this is why there was a tiny holdout from Gaudreau before the 2016-2017 season).

Anyways, from fans of different teams we have our own opinions, maybe a late draft pick gets thrown in from Calgary but they already have so few I doubt that would happen.

Well Hamilton would be a bit of a reach.
I like the idea of Bennett and Hamonic but more would have to be added on top of that. Since Calgary does not have a 2018 1st I cannot see this trade being consummated (I guess you could say, Buffalo gets f****d.

I agree with you on Bennett as I really like his game and I think he would fit nicely with Jack or Casey...... Harmonic is a fine dman as you pointed out but with only 2 years left on his deal then UFA it does not work for the Sabres. He wanted out & off the island to get back to Western Canada so shipping him back east would not be a smart move on GMBots part.

The league very rarely sees a goalie traded as part of a deal that happens outside of the trade deadline. I think this happens for a few reasons one is that other teams do not put the same value on a goalie that is not in their system..... I know GMBots really like Ullmark, Johansson & Luukkonen so MM just does not fit the needs for the Sabres.

How about this:

I do not see any value in trading for Harmonic...... he wanted off the island and wanted to be back in Western Canada in a bad way.... bringing him to Buffalo for 2 years does not make sense to me at this point.... then again I am more Homer Simpson than Einstein!!!!

I understand that you feel this is a fair offer, and you may very well be correct. It is not what Buffalo will accept for O'Reilly.
