Being honest about ROR..

Description
Buffalo Sabres were mismanaged for years and years, they drafted Eichs three years ago and nothing, no SINGLE thing has changed. I watched that interview (where he said that the team was "ok with losing") and noticed that he was extremely upset, he was honest about his feelings and with expressing them I don't see a problem. Imagine being in company of some sorts, you are well paid, have good schedule and everything, you get new colleague who is great and one of the best in the business, but you are having bad boss that mismanages the whole group of yours and you are sick of him but stick up, work. The company is going down and the whole group you work with are in negative mood and then boss changes, mood is on the lowest point and same things happen again. Despite you trying your best to keep the work you are sick of the failure workplace you are working in is having. At the end of year before major break you express your honest opinion about the matter and you need to get it out because you are just sick of it, but you want to be there next year working on the solution. You lost your passion for the job but if it gets better after the break you regain it back and will be stronger. That is what is going to happen to ROR. Give him a break. He was just honest and I honestly think most of the guys that are there are sick of it too, they just didn't express it like ROR did. He is not a cancer on the team. He is sick of the years of mismanagement.. he doesn't even care that they are losing, he is so sick of it and the other thing is, that he said he wants to be part of the solution and turn things around. He committed to this team few years ago and I believe he wants to be there for at least the rest of his contract.

All-in-all, he will regain his love for hockey all over again, he is great hockey player worth every cent of his contract. His two way game, FOs, offensive output is great. WHOLE TEAM NEEDS to get their mindset back to winning mode for next season and be better as a team. I think ROR just wanted to be honest with all of ya, he expressed majority of the team's opinion and let media blame him not other players. You can see from Eichs' comments last year and ROR this year that there is extremely bad atmosphere, they are sick of losing. That is all. I don't know if I'm right or completely wrong just saying my opinion on this matter.

PP1 is AHL 1st line in Rochester..
PP2 is actual PO1 for Sabres..

But did you not think this team would be over 90 pts after the moves Botterill made. He stole Pominville and Scandella. Beaulieu did not work out, but it looked to a good trade at the time, Pouliot brought some stability to LW and seemed to have good speed, Johnson for some reason had a horrible season. Wilson was a great pick up for a 5th, Nolan brought toughness to the team. But Okposo was a still recovering, Moulson was not utilized at all where he can contribute (and the PP went from tops to the bottom) and I thought that Housley missed fired on using his talents properly. Yes, i will always want O'Reilly gone from the team. Thanks again.

I was never one who thought the team would be that good last year..... I felt that there had been too much turnover with the coaching staff and the 'room' was still trying to figure it out.... Eichel's injury in 16/17 really set the team back as he missed valuable time and development..... I never thought they would be dead last but I never expected a playoff team either. First year coach, first year GM, Eichel injury, Okposo coming back after a life threatening situation, ROR's head not straight to start the season due to his legal troubles, Reinhart being played out of position, the roster turnover, new system...... everything and I mean everything was going against the Sabres last year.

I think they are on the right path.... getting Dahlin and management settled for at least the next 2-3 years, Eichel signed long term, Mittelstadt emergence..... I expect the team to be better much better but not a playoff contender.... playoffs happens in 19/20 and contend in 20/21..... I think the fans expectations have been too high on young stars to produce and be amazing too early in their careers.

I can buy what you are selling, with an improved defense (Beaulieu, Scandella), offense (Pominville, Pouliot), coaching, goal tending (I never expected Johnson to play as poorly as he did), I expected to win a few more games than '15-'16 (81 pts) and that takes them close to 90. 90 would mean play off hunting through out the year, really not an unreasonable expectation. Last place over all came out of no where so nearly 30 pts below expectation. When DATM traded for O'Reilly, I hated the trade, but I told my son if O'Reilly could be Bergeron, then it is a good trade. How many teams has Bergeron been on that finished out of the playoffs 5 and none ever had less than 70 pts. BTW Bergeron is also considered a great 2 way player, the only years he finished with less than 20 penalty minutes are the years he was injured. Botterill made GREAT moves as I explained, the teams leadership did not respond and regressed (lost the love of the game). Botterill best move will be when he gets rid of all of the cancers on this team. I am sorry I am so bitter, but this is the legacy of DATM. Botterill has nothing to trade to make the team better. As I peruse trades from other team, they all have great prospects to move, Buffalo's best prospects are playing for other teams.

Trust me no need to apologize you are a long suffering loyal fan..... you have bought in numerous times only to be disappointed..... the biggest fear I have is can GMBots & Phil identify the problems accurately...... what happens if Eichel is the problem..... how do you correct that.....

I am still 100% behind this team and organization..... I am not sure they deserve my unwavering loyalty and money for season tickets but I am too old to allow it to make me become bitter.

DATM put this franchise years behind..... that one is squarely on Pegula's.

I thought ted black was a good addition but he convinced Terry to feed darcy to the lions and hire back No Nothing Nolan to please the masses then let LaFontaine pick DATM as the GM. Now our ignorant press wonders why DATM was fired. Yes I am bitter and if I do not see major changes and moving all of the players with contracts that will return assets, I will be greatly dis appointed. The team finished last (only 10 more points than when the team was trying to get the 1st over all) with Eichel, O'Reilly, Reinhart, Ristolainen, Pominville, Okposo, Lehner, and Bogosian, the team can finish last without them as well. Trade them all for picks, prospects and players. Use the extra cap to bring in UFA and I can assure you this team will not finish last.
