Buffalo Sabres 2018-19 Realistic Opening Night Roster w/ ROR trade.

Created by: sabres1108
Team: 2018-19 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 31, 2018
Published: May 31, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sabres switch to royal blue jerseys. :)

Eichel “C” - switches to #9
Okposo “A”
Bogosian “A”

I think if given the opportunity E-Rod would be solid playing with Eichel and Okposo but for now I’ll slot him on 3rd line.

The second Bogosian gets injured call up Guhle lol

Rochester would be pretty stacked especially up front especially w/ a top 9 of:

Smith-Kyrou-Baptiste
Olofsson-Asplund-Nylander
O’Regan-Oglevie-Pu

The sweedish line 2 :)

May seem a little bit cap strapped but Pominville and Hagelin contracts expire at end of season saving nearly 10 million which will be much needed when it comes time to sign Mittelstadt and Dahlin to big deals.

FWIW not a huge fan of Larsson, Girgensons and Bogosian and I’d be totally down with moving any of them.

It looks interesting, but also a lot of questions.

1. Ready Mittelstadt to the second line?
2. I like Fabbri, Kyrou I like even more, but confuses health Robby, this risk, if all will in order, then the first line look very is identically, and importantly high-speed line, what Jack and lacks.
3. Bogosian as a partner of Dahlin in the top 4, perhaps this is not the worst option, but we all know that the Bogo can break again by 10-20 match and again have to shuffle the defense and play new bundles, still want to Dahlin consistently playing partner for the whole season.
4. I like the option of signing Lehtonen, an experienced veteran who will be good at insuring Ullmark.
5. Good job smile

Forgot to add. I think Fabbri is possible to give a slightly smaller salary, Reinhart maybe 4,5-5M 5-6 year.

Not terrible at all but that defense is still very weak. Especially in their own end and in the hockey sense category.... I know getting rid of Bogosian is tough but I think it should seriously be considered. Hasn't even been good in his own end when he rarely plays here. I also don't think he's as good as Guhle right now and he'll be up here playing. We could use a reshift of 3-7 on the D. If Dahlin, Risco and Scandella are your top 3 it's not terrible actually probably pretty good but that 4-7 is very questionable. McCabe did not have a good year last year. I hope he can pick it up but he right now looks like a 5-6 d man. Bogosian should be the 6th or 7th D man on this team getting sheltered minutes if he's still there. Need a stay at home mid pair guy who has good hockey sense and is gritty.

Yeah your probably right on the salaries but figured id go on the high end to see how the cap would work out .. And totally agree on Bogosian thats why I added the whole call up Guhle thing as soon as he gets injured lol.... do you think its crazy to put both Rasmi on the same pair??? they could play and mesh together for yearsssss and it would be cool to say Rasmi all the time as well haha

Borgen maybe could be that on the right side in 1-2 years. could just use Bogo as a stop gap til then. maybe he stays healthy and his value increases a bit and can trade him at deadline to cup conteder and just retain some salary??

also if #1,2 and 3 D are good and McCabe + Nelson solid 5+6 dman you cant say the Defense is “very weak” .Risto and Scandella are nice and Dahlin is a friggin prodigy. at worst its mediocre but i definitely wouldnt say its awful. and if Bogo can stay healthy and produce then he may not be a bad #4 just overpaid. obviously its a big IF but really i dont think the defense is that bad...

I am a big fan of ROR and would like to see him in the Blues organization, but I don't see STL trading Kyrou for him until they get a better feel for him at the AHL/NHL level. What I could see is S. Blais (young LW with middle 6 potential), J. Schmaltz (young RD who is buried at AHL level due to STL RD depth, but is an avg 25 pt per season player at AHL), rights to Fabbri and a 1st.

It comes down to if Risto should be a number 1 defenceman or not. I don't believe he should. I think he's an excellent 3rd defenceman and a pretty good second guy but he's a very weak #1 He isn't great in his own end and he doesn't have the hockey sense for it. Now we're all expecting Dahlin to be that guy in the future but in the meantime it would be nice to get a guy to pair with Risto. A top four of a guy like Hanifin or Falk and Risto as the top pair and Scandella and Dahlin as the second pair that gets you into the playoffs easy.

i understand but at this point in their careers is Hanifin really that much better than Scandella ?
