If Rutherford and Armstrong were actually discussing this it would likely be a done deal and a good one for both sides.

Kyrou - I would definitely like to see up this year.
Kostin - I would not bring up yet....1) by all reports he still needs a little time to develop in the AHL...2) if he becomes a 1st year player in 19/20 then he will be a 3rd year player in the 21/22 season and we will have to protect him in the Seattle expansion or risk losing him.

He just had hand/wrist surgery. He will likely need some time before he can get back out and play. Once he is back MacEachern can be sent down to the AHL.

I’m not an Allen hater or apologist, but I do think he needs to be traded. He will likely be the textbook example of a player who “needs a change of scenery “. The team just plays different in front of him than they do other goalies and I think its time to part ways with him.

If I compare the two today, then yes they are not comparable. Schenn is definitely better. If I compare 20 year old Schenn to JP, then they are closer (18 pts in 54 games for Schenn in his first Philly year). The Blues are unlikely to make the post season this year and should start looking at next year. A player like JP would help with retooling for the future.

Blues 18/19 Possible Opening Night Lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>Why is everybody having Thomas as 4C? That would destroy his development completely.</div></div>
If the Blues are looking to continue the traditional "grinder/bruiser" 4th then yes it would limit his time and his development. However, there are quite a few teams moving in the direction of using 4 skill lines (i.e. see Vegas). The possibility of creating a skill 4th line and placing him there to develop as a C instead of a W has been batted around by many including the coach in interviews.
Again as mentioned in the title....possible opening night lineup....by no means do I see this as the lines we will see by midseason.
Bozak is very unlikely to be playing 4c this season. He will be 3c...likely all season unless injured...and will play with Steen + someone else (probably Perron).
SammyT_51....I see your lines as what will likely shake out about 15 games into the season....with Thomas taking the majority of the faceoff's on the Schenn/Schwartz line and then moving to the wing with Schenn taking the center position.

Thread:
Parayko
I don't see the Blues trading Parayko...for a variety of reasons. However, the Blues do not have cap space to make what amounts to a 1 for 1 trade of Parayko and Nylander. Parayko is at $5.5 m and Nylander will likely be at ~$6.5 to 7 m. The Blues currently have about ~$250k in cap space. The math doesn't work. Sorry.
Again, I don't see the trade happening because the Blues are also high on Parayko and look at him as a replacement for Pietro in the future. However, that said, I could see:
Toronto receives Parayko and Steen (to make cap space)
Blues receive Nylander (signed to extension 7 or 8 years), Liljegren, 2019 1st round pick and maybe even a 2020 1st or 2nd round pick.
While Toronto fans are going to scoff at this trade suggestion and state that Blues fans are over estimating the worth of their player, you have to also keep in mind that the Blues currently are bargaining from a position of strength. I doubt that Army has reached out to the Leafs organization to make this trade happen, but instead the Leafs organization, if this is anything beyond someone's pipe dream trade suggestion, has reached out to the Blues for a RD that they want. Before all the other moves the Blues made in the offseason, a trade for Parayko might have been composed differently, but the Blues have no need to make this trade right now. Instead it is now the Leafs who are looking to bolster their defensive depth to support their offensive strength. That will change the dynamic of any trade for any organization not just this potential trade rumor.

Buffalo Sabres 2018-19 Realistic Opening Night Roster w/ ROR trade.
I am a big fan of ROR and would like to see him in the Blues organization, but I don't see STL trading Kyrou for him until they get a better feel for him at the AHL/NHL level. What I could see is S. Blais (young LW with middle 6 potential), J. Schmaltz (young RD who is buried at AHL level due to STL RD depth, but is an avg 25 pt per season player at AHL), rights to Fabbri and a 1st.

As a fan of the Blues, I'm interested to see what Kostin can do in the Note, but trading him for ROR would be a very interesting possibility.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sicarius</b></div><div>I wasn't jumping up and down about signing Jack Johnson but if he was anchoring the 3rd pairing it'd be solid. I think other teams will out bid the Blues for De Haan.</div></div>
I like the thought on Teuvo. I hadn't really thought down that path; however, I don't think that anything more would be required. Teuvo only has one year left before RFA and giving up 2 solid prospects, a first and a second in my opinion for 1 guaranteed year is enough.
I'm not sold on picking up Tavares for the Blues. Don't get me wrong. He would be an incredible pick up, but at $10.5 to $11 million per....yikes! That's a lot of money for one player and not a lot to put around him. I like one of your earlier posts looking at a Parayko for Draisaitl ($8.5 million long term and younger) trade.
Then filling the RD gap with a UFA/RFA - Carlson, Green, Dumba, Miller, van Riemsdyk. As you mentioned, bring up Schmaltz and see what he can do. Maybe bring up Walman too to fill the LD. Or look for another option there - De Haan would be an interesting replacement for Gunnarsson.

Now that the Blues actually have control of an AHL team, I'd rather give Thomas and Kyrou a year together to build more chemistry (and get Thomas closer to 20 years old) before putting them into NHL action.

Of all the prospects that the Blues have in their farm, I simply don't see management being willing to part with Kyrou or Thomas. Which is why I considered adding two "C" prospects, one "RD" prospect (w/ some NHL experience) and picks for Galchenyuk.

I haven't made a team in a while.... lets have some fun
As a Blues fan, I am warming to the idea of trading Parayko in order to obtain an elite forward. One of my favorite targets would be Drai, I'd love to see what he and Tank could do together. However, I agree with ab33champ, the direction the Blues are going would not make Lucic a value add to the organization. Additionally, I don't see the Blues trading Kyrou or Thomas at all. They both have a ton of potential. Which is obviously why so many other organizations are looking at them.
I could see a Parayko for Drai trade straight up. Or Parayko and Berglund for Drai and Khaira or a 2nd round pick.

Ryan O'Reilly to St.Louis. 5 different times. By request!!!!
I'd enjoy seeing ROR in the Note centering Tank, but most deals above won't work due to team plans for the young players noted and city wide riots which might occur if the trade happened.
I could see:
V.Sobotka (for cap relief)
J.Schmaltz (RD, who is buried currently due to RD depth)
S.Blais (LW, who showed some potential on 2nd line this past year)
and
- either -
T.Kaspick (C, junior league) + 3rd/4th round pick
- or -
1st round 2018 (from Jets)
