Damn you...you had to make me say no to wings acquiring Simmonds.. LOVE his game & we need Gudas style in front of our net badly.. BUT wings are NOT trading the #6 oa in that pkg.....vgk pick 30/31 yes our 2/3round picks sure maybe... & kronwall is no too...ONLY because he's a leader in our locker room with championship experience ...older & damaged or not...he's retiring a RedWing...but we'll work with you on other scenarios for Simmonds ...we're all ears ...but this post no..we need young D too badly

Money talks but I don't think Simmer wants to ride in the basement for the remainder of his career.

It doesn't make much difference, but I miss-thought the Wings having #8 instead of #6 (oops!). With Kronwall, I figured you'd guys want to get younger and clear space for a guy like John Carlson (and maybe even JT; hell why not both if you can). Having said that, adding another pick or even a prospect such as Rubstov or Hagg could help the package.

Just an estimated guess. I figured he'd be due a raise + competition from other teams wanting to sign him.

I am of the opposite mind. He signed for 4x$2M at 24 years old after a physical rookie year of 14g, 29pts. The expectation, and reason for $2M, would be that his play would improve, but it has actually slipped a bit. His offense is down, his physicality is down, his ice time is down. Not close to the expectation. Now at 28 years old he isn't going to be getting better than he is (mild variation up or down due to different team and style of play accepted). I could see him doing a one year bridge to try to prove himself like Comeau did a few years back ($700K in Pit that turned to 3x$2.4M in Col)
