You're sending the 4th overall pick for nothing but to save roughly 4 million ann.

I don't think this helps ottawa that much. Staal has a less expensive player, but he's also significantly worse. Bobby is over payed, but he brings a positive impact to the team. I don't think the same thing can be said for Marc Staal. I also think giving up anything to move Burrows is pointless. Just stick him in the AHL and run out the contract.

the top end talent in the upcoming draft is very high, and giving up that pick will hurt the team for years to come.

Gaborik off the books in 3 years Ryan off in 4 any luck this 4th overall pick taking gaborik money after his entry level with possibly another lottery pick or two taking ryans money and sens rebuilt it’s kinda a grin and bear it sorta time for sens and hoping they get enough picks and prospects if the big deals go down and ride out the bad cap hits

Don’t hate the idea just to big of gabs in picks if Ottawa was picking 16th instead of 4th I would be all for it but future superstars are picked in top 5 on occasion

Yeah, same reply as most of these. I wouldn't move it because I am high enough on Walhstrom/Boquist (Zadina/Svech if they magically fell). Walhstrom appears to be a lock to be a future 25-30g player and Boquist learning from Karlsson could/would definitely speed things up a bit. I see it as the Hedman/Karlsson draft year again. The under sized but possibly more skilled player will take a few more years to get there but when he does will make everyone regret not taking him but again...4th vs 15th. I don't like the idea of passing on him. Like Zadina, his is supposed to be in the conversation for best skills but his knock is it looks like he gives up when he loses the puck because he can't knock them off and just waits until he gets the puck again.

I also like watching Ryan, even if he doesn't play to the full value to of the 7mil he still plays well and I'd rather we just keep him on the roster and overpay him with money rather than overpay with assets for him to play elsewhere.
