I don't think he's the guy I'd want to take, I'd rather get Dobson or Wahlstrom, but I don't think it's the end of the world if they draft him. His brother is a very good player, and by all accounts he's a more skilled version of that.
And I think he could be a good compliment to fellow US forwards Logan Brown and Colin White. I don't hate the Idea of a Tkachuk-Brown-White line.

More skilled and less intelligent version. Besides Matthew Tkachuk really isn't as good as you'd want to believe. Sure he helped Backlund and Frolik, but people don't realize the raw power of both Backlund and Frolik to make their partners play well. Bouma scored 16 goals and 18 assists with Backlund. Colborne almost scored 20 goals. Where are they now? I'm a Flames fan and I feel Matty T is severely overrated by a ton of people.

I don't know how much water that argument holds because Matt Tkachuk had more goals and points than either Backlund or Frolik. He is by no means being dragged along by those two.

Might be overrated by some people depending on how good they see him but Tkachuk is the type of player you win with. You need that type of player to tilt the ice towards your team. He's easily Calgary's 3rd best forward. He's like a lesser version of Brad Marchand who is one of the most valuable players in the league.
