TEAM OF POTENTIALLY BOUGHT OUT PLAYERS

Description
With the CBA up in 2020, what if the CBA was up this year and teams could buy out 1 player with no penalties. Here is my team, with at least 1 player from every team< some teams will no be represented due to roster size. 23 players, 13 forwards, defenseman, 2 goalies and 1 at large player

Just curious how does it work when teams buy a player out? Does it affect the cap?

The salary cap as a whole, no, the teams cap space,yes, they will have to pay the player out a fraction of the rest of his contract over a longer period of time but at a smaller cap hit. Ie. Brouwer has 2 years left at 4.5 million per year, if the Flames were to buy him out they would have to pay him 1.5 million dollars a year over the next four years.

Because it's not a get out of jail free card. In the example above, the flames would have to pay him and take at 1.5m cap hit per season, so for the next 4 years the Flames would only have 73.5m of the 75m cap available to use for other players.
