Skinner, Bottom 6 depth (for once)

Created by: jayjenkins
Team: 2018-19 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 9, 2018
Published: Jun. 9, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Forward:
1st line stays same (obviously)
Healthy Simmonds becomes LW with Patrick, Voracek
Signing Grabner provides depth scoring, experience, speed, and PK guy (Hextall wants to improve PK through FA) Hextall also said he wants to bring back Filpulla. I signed him to 1 year deal since Frost will need another year but should make the team next year. Lindblom can develop at easier pace instead of being on 2nd line bc Simmonds was injured.
Beagle signing brings in another PK guy and helps with faceoffs (recently winning a cup doesn't hurt his resume either. Scott Laughton belongs on the team so putting him on the left side keeps his depth and keeps skill on bottom 6 with Raffl

Defense:
Top pair stays same (again obvious)
Sanheim makes the team. STL has to resign Schmaltz but that is questionable so taking him off their hands for Gudas gives them something instead of Schmaltz walking to FA
Although I hate AMac, he was an Asst Capt last year and will likely live out the last 2 years with the Flyers. Myers makes the team

Goalies:
Assuming Hart makes the team (I think he will) a spot needs to be made for him. Trading Neuvirth opens that spot (he doesn't have to go to BUF, they are one of a few teams in need of goalie, the point is that a spot is opened up)
Elliot and Hart will split the time in the net. If Hart doesn't make team and begins in minors (still likely option) Elliot and Neuvirth stay as tandom for the year

the Flyers have ZERO need to sign bottom 6 players. Our prospect pool is the deepest in the league and we need roster spots for those guys.

Where is Robert Hagg? Why is an AHler on our 2nd D pair?

I respect your opinion but in Hextall's end of season statements he said that he wants to improve the PK and add depth in FA. I feel that adding Beagle and Grabner accomplishes both of those objectives and more. Plus how do you expect to win with a bunch of young guys in the bottom 6? Sorry but Weal, Leier, and Vecchione/Vorobyov isn't going to be good enough. Lack of experience killed us this year. I agree that we have one of if not the best prospect pools in the league but we need to implement those players in the proper way for that to matter. If we rush them or don't put them on a solid line then it's not worth it. That's how all the championship teams develop their players too.

I was about to get heated because I thought you called Sanheim an AHLer lol. I'd not sign Beagle or Flipp, no Schmaltz either. I like Grabner and would be interested in signing Hamhuis to a one year deal (sounds crazy but his numbers are actually very solid) if Myers really isn't ready.

We are not a contender yet. We want the kids to get as much experience as possible before we are ready to contend. Burying them in the AHL year after year doesn’t do that. Certain guys are definitely ready to make the jump and contribute just fine in the bottom 6.

Signing Michael Grabner would be a waste of a roster spot. Our systems don't fit with his style of play.

Jay Beagle gets murked on 5v5 possession stats. Highly doubt we bring him in just as a PK specialist.
