I don't think Vegas would be interested in trading him. Contending teams like Vegas, want to be good and they don't worry about a player's upcoming UFA status. Vegas is still thin overall on defence and just can't trade one of the best Dmen.

It's though to predict their move, i think the plan was to trade their 1 year contract this year . But they have such a good year they keep them for the long run that they make in playoff . Will they go back to the previous plan and look for future or with all the money they got this summer they will go all in again.

While I would agree with @Palhal that it would make no sense to trade him (especially since he is still quite young), for pure value comparison, I will try and answer your question. A 26-year old left-handed top-4 defenceman with great speed, solid defensive instincts and decent offensive output, could probably net Vegas 3 pieces in a futures package and a protected 1st round pick in 2019. In a 1-for-1 hockey deal, he would probably net a player similar to Jason Zucker.

@palhal and @MG1986 Thanks for the response guys , i know it's a big piece to move but i was thinking with Theodore pushing that was a possibility . I don't know if they have any other player who can take a top 4 spot as LHD other then Schmidt and Theodore.

My pleasure. I would think that it's easier for Vegas to move Colin Miller, even though he is a right-handed defenseman (also more valuable on the trade market), because of Theodore's offence. It's not like you'd be selling low on Schmidt or anything, and he certainly has good value at the moment. However, if they use Nate right and got him a top defenseman to play with that could keep up with his speed (Erik Karlsson perhaps?) then he becomes potentially a much more valuable commodity and one that will get expensive when he finally gets UFA status.
