I appreciate the comment!

I can't imagine that Pittsburgh would be too interested in Beaulieu, we don't even want him. I like McCabe, but I think he's quickly becoming the odd man out with Dahlin and Scandella surely in the lineup and Pilut and Guhle waiting to jump in as well. That's a lot of lefties, so I'm thinking we can afford to move him for help on the wings. And I like what Hagelin brings with his speed and two way game.

If the pens move hagelin it'll be for cap purposes. Imo they would have to retain to get McCabe.

The feeling that I've been getting is that they probably will move either Hagelin or Sheary for cap purposes, and that most Pens fans would prefer they trade Sheary. I've also heard that they could use a bottom pairing LHD, and I think McCabe fills that need better than anyone they'd get for Sheary. I'd love to hear a Pens fan's thoughts on how accurate that is.

As for cap space, I feel like McCabe's contract is pretty reasonable for what he offers. And they save over $2M through this deal.

Again, thanks for the input!

Guys, McCabe is ok, but it's been a long time since he was captain of team USA in world jrs. Hes in his mid 20s now and has just been ok. Hagelin has speed and has a ton of playoff experience. I think it's a fair deal

while I cant speak for everyone else I would indeed much rather get rid of sheary than hagelin. Although hagelin is a free agent after this year so if they don't extend him I could see him going too. I am not familiar with McCabe but the pens do need help defensively and does sound like someone who would fill that role. There is no way the pens should retain anything if they ae moving hagelin.

Haha, I saw you put the same trade in one of your proposals. Great minds!

McCabe is a strong, hard hitting defenseman that is probably ideal for a bottom pairing role but could play up if necessary. He's not a bad skater and has an alright shot, but he doesn't really utilize those talents as much as he could. He was fairly highly touted and was developing well until the past season and a half or so when we started throwing him all over the lineup with little consistency, but he's been prone to his share of brain cramps and bad decisions this year. I think a lot of that is because we were playing him higher than we probably should've been, and I think he can definitely rebound with better usage. I would try to keep him around but we don't really need him long term with our slew of LHD depth, so I think a trade would work out best for the Sabres and for McCabe. Appreciate the insight!
