Quite the haul for Ryan O'Reilly. He's a great player, but I think that's giving up too much for him. Also with Ottawa clearly shopping Hoffman, I again don't think Calgary would need to give up so much for him. Not sure Hoffman is worth both guys and the first round pick. Curious to hear what others think.

Both trade proposals are completely unfair and unbalanced. ROR for Brodie straight up, and Hoffman for any 1 of those players, especially considering the current controversy.

I don't want Hoffman on the Flames and they will be selling low on him as it sounds pretty bad. For O'Reilly it will take a lot to get him so that is not too far off. Would love to have him but I think he will cost too many assets and has a big cap hit. I love Neal but he is 30 and in decline. Look at the Oilers with Lucic, I don't want to get stuck with something similar.

As has been pointed out to me by others in these Armchair GM threads, Buffalo doesn't have to trade ROR. Also I've not read that they are shopping him, and only that they're listening to offers. Therefore Brodie for ROR straight up is declined immediately by Buffalo. ROR deserves a nice return but the package above would be highway robbery.

The Hoffman situation is rough, so I agree with you there. Maybe one of the guys and a 6th round pick or something. Not sure how much the drama devalues him, because he's more than capable of putting up 35+ goals on a solid line.

Quite the haul? A disappointing top 5 pick, an overrated "top 4" D, and a good prospect who may or may not sign. Buffalo can do much better trading a high end 2 way center like ROR

My thoughts are this:

Bennett is looking like a bust Brodie had a down year and i dont think Fox will sign, if you could get ROR for that then I'm happy, i think he would flourish with Monahan and Johnny.

On the Hoffman trade, i understand he is in a bad situation but he can put the puck in the net and there are guys that played in the NHL that have done alot worse things ( i dont agree with his GF and agree she is a POS if found guilty) but I dont think his value has dropped off the face of the earth. Stone is basically a give away to balance cap, Ferland had one good half a year that i dont think he can replicate and the 1st you are hoping is the 31st pick in 2020 (actually a 2nd rounder 2 years ago.)

Of course if you believe all three are trash or unavailable then why would Buffalo be interested even in all three of them? EVERYBODY is trying to get Fox, do you ever wonder why? And, frankly both Brodie and Bennett are way better than last season, if that's not acknowledged, they won't get traded. No problems. Both very good players.

The Flames, in any trade, are trying to improve the team.. Giving away 3 very good players for 1 somewhat better player is not improving the team. If Buffalo thinks they can get a haul like that they should go ahead and do it. Its not happening.

And to bring a sense of reality to some Armchair GM's thinking, and for those Domi and Galchenyuk fans who thought they walked on water, I guess those multi-asset returns just weren't there, but a good ole 1 for 1 hockey trade was the ticket. I'll stick with Brodie for ROR. If they are not interested, fine.

I understand Fox is good but if he didn’t sign and doesn’t want to then get something for him. Bennett better than shown? so what 20 g and 20 a potential? Brodie is good I just think your gonna have to give more than Brodie. But just my opinion as far a Galchenyuk for Domi it’s essentially Bennett for Galchenyuk and flames missed the boat big time on that

I’d say Bennett is better than Domi and has higher upside, but agree with your point that Bennett-Galchenyuk would be reasonable. As far as Fox goes, he still has 2 more years before UFA is a consideration, and he has done nothing to indicate he would not sign. If he is unsigned in 2 years then yes, see what you can get. Brodie and a B prospect?
