Cause i value Hayes more then Söderberg+#17 pick and the #39+what seems to be another #32-40 pick for a first that should be in the #18-25 range even it out

Feels like you think there’s a bigger gap between Colorado’s 1st’s and NYR’s 2nd’s then it actually is

in this draft? dropping like 20 spots would be huge. If anything, I think you're overvaluing how much it helps to get Soderberg off the books.

In this draft there’s not that huge gap between 17 & 39 since it’s a deep draft there’s very good odds players picked in the 2nd round works out more then players in the late 1st. Heard a lot about the draft being rly unpredictable between 15-50 cause there’s so many talented players to choose between
And i’m Not seeing Söderberg as a cap dump if that’s what you think, even tho I think his value are not the highest. I want him cause he would be perfect for the bottom six and fits in term while Chytil/Andersson have the #2 center spot

Cause they get a big relatively young #2 center that they can lock up long term, along with two high 2nd that can be used to get back to the first if they choose. in exchange for a mid 1st and what should be another’s mid-or-late 1st along with a bottom 6 center that gets paid too much for being a bottom 6 center

in this draft, the difference between 16 and 39 is the difference between getting a player who's 1-2 years away from being an impactful NHL player and a player who is at least 2-3 years away. That's a lot more significant than you seem to think it is.

Colorado won't have enough money during the next few seasons to keep all of their players...

Next season, the Avs have to resign Rantanen(he'll likely ask for 3,5-4millions for around 2-3 years) and Kerfoot(he'll likely ask for 5millions for the next 3 seasons)
Also, if you get Hayes, he'll cost you 4,5m to 5 millions...
You also have to Resign JT Compher(2 millions for 2-3 years) and Nikita Zadorov(4 millions for 3-4 years)

So I don't think you should get Hayes.

The Avs already have McKinnon, Soderberg(who is a nice two way center), Kerfoot who can play center, Compher, Jost, Wilson who can play center...

Bad deal for Colorado. They already have a 2nd line C in Kerfoot and will have over 20 mil in cap space. They're fine with keeping Soderberg for another 2 years without having to give up 2 1st round picks.

What are you talking about? Avalanche have lots of cap space, around 22M this season and lose almost as much next summer without the cap rise that’s coming so around 50M in two seasons
Wilson are upcoming UFA and probably won’t stay, Jost (from what I have heard) played a lot at wing and they might keep looking at that. 5M for Kerfoot is insane, and Rantanen should get a long term deal next summer for at least 7x7 if he keep up the same production. Switching Hayes and Söderberg with picks does almost nothing different in cap for them except the terms
