    He’s not signing with Boston

Not to mention you’d never be able to sign CMac, Carlo, Heinen, Donato JFK etc next year

The thing is we would, the bruins would actually be saving money by moving krejci and Backes. That’s 13.25 off the cap, so you save an extra 750k with Tavares. It’d literally be the same cap hit with krejci and Backes next year and having to still sign all those guys

isles just might have no interest in accepting 13.25m for those two bruins. might just let Tavares walk and the spend the money on other ufas or even wait till next year for other ufas.

They wouldn’t be trading for the rights to Tavares, they’d probably be moving each payer in separate deals to make space if Tavares is willing to sign here is what i would assume

So call Donato 3, that’s 19.5m in salary you have 17 coming off the books, you still need backup goalie and the last few spots on the roster to fill. You are over the cap.

Its possible to sign them. With this ACGM the long-term outlook has Boston around $30 million in cap space (assuming an $82 million cap next season). Even using the numbers you and @ngikas have going on (say $19.5 million as you had) and you'd still have $11 million left

on a side note though, Murphy's sources are Murphy and he's as credible as Eklund, Hackerty and Felger

I still laugh at the Andy Strickland tweet "Backes generating more interest than people might think"...lol, well most people think the interest would be zero, so anything above that could be considered "more".

I also think Jimmy Murphy is a freaking tool. When has any of his predictions ever turned out right? Plus his tweet about Krejci garnering interest from STL, Arizona, Carolina and Florida is couched in the fact that he says "in the past", without qualifying how far back he is talking. Krejci has had a 10 year career lol, how far back are we talking here Jim?

Ultimately, I can't see the Bruins being able to move these guys 1). because of their NMCs this year, 2). Why are the Bruins courting Nash, Kovalchuk etc if they are not going to play on Krejci's line? I'm sure they would be happy to have them play with JT if they sign him, but even I recognize signing JT is an extremely unlikely prospect (and I've been obsessed with it since the start of the offseason).

I do think there is interest among teams on Backes, but the interest might not be strong enough for Boston to pull the trigger on a deal.

I followed him years ago, but the quality of his work went right down the tubes over the last 3-4 years.

Next year both go to a NTC, so it'll be slightly easier to move them out. Like we talked about the other day, there are a lot of different factors and maybe one of them would waive to go somewhere else, I'm not sure. The Kovy/Nash point is a valid one. I'm not sure what kind of pitch your giving those guys if you're plan is to trade Krejci. Then again I think Krejci is B's fans whipping boy considering the way he's treated. Similar production to Bergy (offensively) over the last 3 years with no nearly the talent around him and he's treated like the plague by most B's fans.
