Better than BeterChiarelli

Created by: CzechingOut
Team: 2018-19 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 21, 2018
Published: Jun. 21, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
NYR is rebuilding and this gives them a shot a possible top line C/RW in Yamamoto and Strome can fill in on the 2nd or 3rd Line as need be.

PHI is rumored to want to move Simmonds and they have 3 NHL goalies. Lucic going back east mean less wear and tear on the frame and Sekera give them some stability in the 4/5 slot for D.

WPG wont be able to hold on to Myers as the team is gonna be in a cap crunch and cant afford him with contracts due for Morrissey, Trouba, and Morrow on the back end and Stastny likely to re-sign up front and Hellebuyck in net. Plus come next season when half of their forwards are gonna see big time raises ie Wheeler, Laine, and Connor.

NYI needs a starting goalie and Lou want one. Move Talbot for trouble ho-sang and a 2nd with the chance the kid turns into a top 6 winger.

No matter what the Oilers do, they end up with the following.

The best player in hockey as their top line centre. A very good young player in Draisaitl.

And thats pretty much it. Poor Oiler fans, they got a taste of success last year and now are lost in the wilderness.

PHI they're trying to compete right now, why would they take that cap, unless you give them something amazing i dont see the flyers taking on a contract like that
NYR good trade
NYI i dont see you guys getting a goalie so im sure youd want to keep Talbot unless you're going for a rebuild (Mrazek isnt a starter)
WPG i dont see the jets getting any real value, like Russell is a cap dump and jets dont have cap space for him, and those picks dont make up for it

I don't think a playoff team like Philly wants Lucic's contract as well as half of Sekera's.

I don't think you can dump BOTH Lucic and Sekera on the same team. The Flyers have room for a few years before money gets weird for them again. If you were to retain like $1.5M on Lucic and not send Sekera, I think it's possible to pull Simmonds and Gudas out of Philadelphia. Best bet for Sekera is there's a team on his list that is willing to take him for a reasonable price.

Seems like a lot to send to the Rangers just to dump Kassian. Strome's worth a few mid-round picks and should be plenty, especially if they're actually moving Namestnikov. The two of them probably don't net Zuccarello, but I don't see the sense in shipping out our best prospect for a 30 year-old winger. He probably pairs well with RNH and McDavid, but for like 3 years tops (if you can extend him that is), then you're in the same hole. Very risky move from where I stand.

Mrazek will hit the free market: no sense in trading for his rights when you can sign him for less. I like taking a chance on him, but not if the Oilers are serious about Koskinen as a backup: He'd be someone I would comfortably run a 1A/1B with in order to spark some form of a rebound out of.

The Islanders would pay a lot more for Talbot from what I've loosely gathered. That package nets you Grubauer, and Talbot has the benefit of being more established. Maybe it's Ho-Sang and both 2nds, but there should be more coming back for him. Why you'd want to give up on him is beyond me: reduce his workload by 15 games and I guarantee he's a .920sv% goaltender.

I make that Winnipeg trade 25 hours a day, 8 days a week. The Jets should decline out of self-respect, and I reckon they could get more for Myers.

3 stars for spelling my name right.
