Winnipeg 2018-2019 Cup Winners

Created by: johnnyu22
Team: 2018-19 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 22, 2018
Published: Jun. 22, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Jets improve offensive depth adding Toffoli, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and resigning Stastny. Add elite prospect in Vilardi to compete with Roslovic and Vesalainen for a depth role and ice. Hamonic provides stability and veteran presence to a heavy right-sided D-core, allowing Sami Niku to draw in and develop. Dano and Petan both get a chance to develop elsewhere.

Statsny deal no, Grabner deal HELL NO. Wpg doesn't need any more offensive players. They got shut down by Vegas, all they need is a change in playstyle.

You've added considerable cap next year for LA, so it's easy no from them. And why would the Kings want Little long term instead of in your words "elite prospect" , Vilardi.

Agree Grabner might not be worth the price, so edited it for a look without him.

For an elite defenseman in Myers and a bonafide 2C in Little, Jets are giving LA two huge pieces which LA could use to either make a run or move in a separate direction. 2 draft picks and a very good prospect from Winnipeg would be a tempting haul for Vilardi who isn't yet proven, but I'd go as far as saying even K. Conner could replace Appleton in that trade. Winnipeg would be the one taking the risk here, but if Vilardi was ever to move, Winnipeg would be able to develop him and unload some cap in this move.

Hahaha no chance LA is taking on Little’s soon to be underwater contract AND giving up a so called “elite” prospect for the honor of receiving Tyler Myers, who btw is no where near Elite.

You are probably unfamiliar with what comprises an "elite" talent given that you are a fan of the maple leafs. Your organization pays its useless coaches more than its players. Little is a 40-60 point a year player. Both players still under 30 years old. No risk at all for LA, they know what they are getting. Good defenseman, good 2 way forward with consistent offensive production. Picks and a prospect swing this trade to favorable for LA. As petan for winnipeg has demonstrated, simply being a "high-caliber" junior player like vilardi does not guarantee a translation to NHL skill. LA gets proven NHL players, picks, prospect for a maybe good, maybe really good player and a good winger.

Little’s contract will be an immovable anchor in no time as he declines in a 3C role, why on Earth would LA move Toff (who’s on a great contract) AND their top prospect for some mid round picks, a lesser prospect and an expiring D man? As for coaching, your coach already had a tryout with the Leafs and failed miserably.

Not that any of this matter since your GM refuses to make any moves. THANKFULLY the leafs are bringing in young, fresh, handsome talent to the front office to replace the ghost of Lou who was clearly going senile with some of these headscratching moves (marlo, Boyle and plek for 2nds...) GO LEAFS GO

In all honesty, this trade would be a lifeline for LA. As a team with little cap space, acquiring 5 assets for 2 would be ideal, even if these pieces weren't to stay in LA. The Kings need to find a way to get younger in bulk, and adding 2 picks and a prospect would be a great way to do that. They will, in all likelihood, need to make a barrage of moves to scale back the age/cap that they currently have in their roster. In this game, the teams with the most leverage and most options are often the ones who are capable of pulling off the beneficial deals, and LA would be positioning themselves well with this deal, even if it was only to serve as a bridge to a different deal. Myers and Little are attractive pieces who, along with their current core in LA, would give them many different routes to building a strong lineup, and picks and prospects insure future development. This is a team who has built up for years, but they need to take a new direction. I doubt LA would be so quick to push aside such an offer.

Ah yes, exactly what the old aging team win no cap space needs is to give up two young assets for an expiring contract and a aging veteran on a 6 yr deal.

2/5 stars, good start, but needs work
