Realistic chance at a repeat?

Description
I think this is a realistic scenario. What do you think?

Trade Burakovsky to EDM (much needed wing help for McDavid) for a 1st. I think that’s a tough trade 1 for 1 so they throw in a 3rd to help. May have to add another 3rd or change the third to a 2nd

After Orpik gets bought out by Colorado, Caps sign him for a team friendly 2M a year since he will still be getting paid from the buyout

Sign Vanek to fill in as a 2nd/3rd line wing as Vrana and Stephenson still develop.

After this year Orpik, Connolly, and Vanek come off the books and they use that 7.5M to re-sign Vrana (3M bridge) and Stephenson (2.5-2.75 Bridge). Hopefully Djoos and Bowey will develop more and can fill in as the third pairing. Walker and Gersich should be NHL ready by then.

Use the remaining 2M to fill in with depth players if needed

Why trade Burakovsky and sign Vanek for the same cap hit?

Burakovsky’s contract is up after next year so trade him while you can and sign Vanek for a year until Vrana and Stephenson’s contracts are up and then pay them. Won’t have the cap to sign all 3 so Burky is the odd man out and he will fetch the most in return

Except Burakovsky will be an RFA so the rights to sign him still have trade value equal to what you could get right now, only it'd probably go up if he plays full time this year. Connolly, on the other hand, could be a UFA next year (or could be signed to an extension right now for up to eight more years at whatever price he agrees to).

Yes I know he’s a RFA but his production is similar to Vrana and Stephenson and he already had his bridge deal so he will want more money. The other two will get bridge deals so it’s easier on the cap to trade Burky. Caps won’t re-sign Connolly unless he takes a similar cap hit but I doubt he gets re-signed
