Moving Kuzy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ClockReads2113</b></div><div>Monahan really isn't all that good. I'd rather keep Kuz at that point but if Caps feel like they have to move Kuz and Monahan is the best they can do then so be it.
I don't know how you can watch last game and think WSH will expose Oshie. Think the only way Oshie is exposed is if he's asked to and SEA takes him without a sweetner.
Think TOR would match that Hyman deal. But could probably get Coleman with that.</div></div>
I think Monahan will be the best C option available. It will be hard to find a team willing to give up a top 6 C these days. Would be nice to package something for Eichel, but I think the price will be too high.
I think Oshie's contract is the issue. Obviously no Caps fan wants to lose him, but GMGM may have no other choice with the Caps having cap issues. I'd prefer to lose Orlov/Dillon/Schultz and sign another Vet.
I don't know if Toronto will have the cap to sign Hyman. If the Caps protect Oshie, Hyman won't be needed anyways.

Build for the future
Think it’s pretty close for Laine. Vrana’s first full year and he had 3 less points than Laine. Maybe a 2nd instead of a 3rd but that would be it

He may agree to go to the Avs with the additions of Skinner, Bob, Hughes and Makar. All just for fun though

Since Toronto's young guys are producing I guess they could move Patty M's last year of just over 6 mil. The Avs would probably have to add another pick, maybe a 3rd?

Whole lot of crap? That’s major over payment by the Caps. Burakovsky is a potential top 6 player. Bowey is a future top 4 and Vanacek will be in the NHL in three years contending for a starting job. The draft picks just make it worse.

I think that’s over payment for EK. If you’re taking on Ryan’s contract the value won’t be that high, especially if you’re giving up Nylander (which I wouldn’t do)

Leafs w Tavares - 19/20
I'm curious on why you think Matthews will make more than Tavares? I don't see that happening. Also what is Tavares doing this year? Signing a one year deal somewhere then coming to Toronto?

Toronto year 3
That's gonna be the cost for a top pairing D in two years. Especially if he continues to put up 55-60 + points a year. Carlson put up 65+ this year and will get about 8.2-8.4, so in two years the same production will get 9+ a year.

Toronto year 1 (getting JT on board)
The reports are Toronto is one of five teams he will talk to and they may offer him a one year max deal. If he does that he may consider to sign long term the following year.

Realistic Carlson Contract
Every contract looks about right. I do think Carlson will get around 8.3-8.5/per and Wilson will get around 4/per since he's now on first line and producing. Other than those I think everything is spot on. You have a lot of guys called up so with those contracts sent down Caps probably have around 3.8M left over. I would think they probably don't re-sign Jerabek since they have Djoos and Bowey. Hoping when Colorado buys out Orpik we re-sign him at most around 2M for one year as Djoos and Bowey continue to develop. Would still leave about 1.8M in cap space for call ups.

Realistic chance at a repeat?
Yes I know he’s a RFA but his production is similar to Vrana and Stephenson and he already had his bridge deal so he will want more money. The other two will get bridge deals so it’s easier on the cap to trade Burky. Caps won’t re-sign Connolly unless he takes a similar cap hit but I doubt he gets re-signed

Realistic chance at a repeat?
Burakovsky’s contract is up after next year so trade him while you can and sign Vanek for a year until Vrana and Stephenson’s contracts are up and then pay them. Won’t have the cap to sign all 3 so Burky is the odd man out and he will fetch the most in return

Well good thing I’m not a home town fan. Holtby is not getting traded. His contract is only like 6.5M for 2-3 more years, so he’s not making a lot for not a very long time. If he did get traded, it would be for a legit top 6 forward, not Eberle. They would also get a top prospect and a 1st. That is at the minimum. Holtby is a top 5 goalie in the league who had a off year but had a great playoffs.

As much as I’d like to see the Caps get the 2nd pick, I don’t think Carolina would budge for that. I think it’s a pretty fair offer but I don’t see Carolina moving off the 2nd

I'm shocked all you guys think STL needs to give up more. I think that's over payment as it is, especially when Panarin said he won't commit to signing a long term deal and that he wants to test the FA market next year. If STL were to take the chance on him and hope to re-sign him I think CBJ would be lucky to get Fabbri, Thompson and a 1st. I still think this would be over payment because you're banking on Panarin to like STL and re-sign. If not, you gave away all that for a 1 year rental.

VGK isn't giving up that much. That is a huge over payment. Probably Suzuki, Tatar and a 1st will be enough to get EK at this point. McPhee will probably give up a little more cause he's know to do that so let's add a 2nd or Lindberg to the deal.

draft deal
Major over payment. Buffalo isn't moving Mittelstadt or Nylander, and especially not moving their 1st this year. A more realistic trade is O'Reilly and next years 1st and a young decent prospect for Karlsson. Ottawa has already screw themselves on getting a max return for EK.

There is no way that trade happens. EVER! First off, the Caps aren't trading Holtby, but if they did, his return would catch far more than what you put on there. The Caps don't need another top 6 F, especially someone like Eberle. The Caps don't need Greiss either as they already have Copley to back up Holtby next year. Brutal trade.
Could maybe package Burakovsky and Grubauer's rights for a good prospect (maybe Ho-Sang) and a 1st (or 2nd and 3rd).

I like the Johansen contract. I think that's pretty fair with what they are paying guys these days. Don't think that EDM trade would be enough to land RNH. Would love to see Nashville pull something like this off again.

Not bad but I think those trades are a bit of a stretch. I don't see Pitt moving on from Kessel at this point of his career. I actually think the CBJ trade is pretty fair, maybe even with Pitt overpaying by a small margin. These trades would be interesting though.
