Description

Sign Tavares to a 1 year deal with the hopes of re-signing him after this year once a lot of contracts are up.

Sign Plekanec to a 1 year deal as the 4th line C.

Sign Nylander to his long term deal.

Not much change this year as Babcock continues to let his players develop so they will be NHL ready the following year.

I hope to god Tavares wouldn't be dumb enough to put his entire future and 80-100 million dollars in jeopardy for a one year deal.

The reports are Toronto is one of five teams he will talk to and they may offer him a one year max deal. If he does that he may consider to sign long term the following year.

Something CBA loophole. Something wink wink deal.

He would be foolish to do this. God forbid something happens in training camp. He will take the 7-8 year no matter where he signs and get the guaranteed money.

And then in camp he take a bad spill and messes up his knee or back. Where ever he signs it will be for the full term. 100% chance at 70 million is better than >100% of 90 million.

I wouldn't say its dumb depending on the situation, I personally don't think he would have a reason to do a max one year with Toronto though.
