Yikes, I think we could get a better return than that. Why not start with Nylander if we're dealing Parayko? Maybe Zaitsev would be a part to make cap sense for TOR. Parayko for Nylander and Zaitsev is about as far as I'd take it since we have zero reason to move Parayko.

Agreed. This trade is pretty far off the mark.

Why does everyone think Parayko is worth so much?

Because he is. He's one of the best RHD entering his prime on a 5.5m contract for 4 more years. He's what every team wants, especially a team like the Leafs that really needs a 2-way defenseman for their top pair.

He's worth more then this garbage, At least worth Nylander. And you're a Blues fan.

Dougie Hamilton Ferland and Adam Fox just returned Hanifin and Linholm... Parayko is worth less than Hamilton and Fox and Kostin are about the same value wise plus a 2nd instead of Ferland seems like a similar trade in value.

Fox might finish college and become a FA. Kostin is a 19 y/o kid who had a solid AHL season... Don't see any similarity there at all.

Also, Zaitsev isn't very good and most fans of Toronto are upset about that contract...

Fox is over a ppg player at Harvard as a dman... they are both prospects with some high potential. Neither has played a game in the NHL and are one year apart in age.

Zaitsev on a good defensive team would be a solid 4th or 5th dman, with potential to be better.

No what I'm saying is if he finishes out college he can decide not to come to that team, a la Will Butcher. He most likely will, meaning there's huge risk he never even plays for them. Zaitsev could be a fine buy low candidate, he just also could have a big number attached to him with no production.
