Letang for Skinner would be intriguing and brings carolina instant experience on the backend but the Kessel trade obviously not even close

The Penguins are content with Kessel. Kessel is not going anywhere.

Does that make it more reasonable? How does that trade do even the slightest bit of anything for Ottawa, a team that is in a full on rebuild. If they're trading Karlsson, it's a package of picks and prospects coming back. There are 29 other teams that would be willing to offer much more than Phil Kessel (who Pitt has been looking to ship off) for arguably the best defenceman in the world. Absolutely not even close when you consider both of the organizations needs.
