It's a nice thought having a local kid like Nash come home, good narrative there. However, it is my understand, there is has been no contact between the Leafs and either UFAs Nash (Rick) or Reider. I specifically note Rick, because I do believe the Leafs have reached out to Riley Nash. I believe both the Habs and Canucks are in on both Rick Nash and Tobias Reider. Wherever Rick Nash ends up, I suspect he gets a multi-year deal to finish his career. As for your Buffalo deal, I like Rasmus, but I like Nylander more, and if you want William, it will cost you large, like Josh Manson plus, even though I am sure some Ducks' fans will disagree.

I am honestly not sure how obtainable Josh Manson is. Some seem to think he's basically untouchable, while others think that he can be had for "fair value" considering the Ducks depth on defense. I am really not sure. I was as well surprised that Vegas was not granted a meeting with Tavares, I thought that seemed like a logical fit, especially considering how well Vegas did this year.

Given how strong Montour looked in the playoffs last year i might rank him over Manson, plus I figure W. Nylander is a strong enough chip to remove the "unattainable" tag from quite a few people

With the Ducks cap situation, I am even sure it could be a 1-for-1, since Nylander's cost to sign him would be $6 million plus range for an AAV. Leafs might have to take back Adam Henrique, or Jakob Silverberg and so the Leafs would have include, likely, an additional piece as well. The deal might get complicated. I do think Manson would like great playing with Reilly.
