If you want us to take Sutter capdump you can't ask for nylander maybe a 1st and 2 AHL prospects other than Liljegren

Sutter isn’t a cap dump. Multiple teams tried to acquire him this past season.

He doesn’t fit into the leafs lineups due to his contract as it’ll make it harder for the leafs to keep their core intact when it comes time to re-sign guys like Matthews and co.

However, I did come across the idea of Nylander for Tanev (as a base) if Tavares got signed by Toronto.

I think Tanev at 50% retained for Nylander could be something both teams would consider.

Youre not getting nylander for an injury prone tanev, nice try. Youre dealing wit dubas here, not pete chiarelli

Sutter is bary worth half his salary how is that not a cap dump. Also was it without retaining half his salary?

    Here is the article:
    http://www.vancourier.com/pass-it-to-bulis/report-canucks-have-received-multiple-trade-calls-on-brandon-sutter-1.23327090

It doesn't state anything about retention.

GM's seem to value players who many people consider cap dumps. Sutter and Gudbranson are prime examples in Vancouver.

Edit: I doubt it happens but it's there. Also Tanev is only injury prone due to the fact that he is a defensive defenceman.

Haha not just Tanev if you looked, there’s other pieces to the deal. Instead of sutter goldobin would be a fit who also has more trade value plus your getting a second. If you didn’t know, a guy like tanev is a piece you need (defensive defencemen). With tavares you’ll be scoring plenty of goals, and trading nylander would make sense for tanev plus a few other pieces or a retained salary on tanev to help ur cap troubles.

Just cause we need a de man doesn't mean we overpay id rather try for Josh Manson with Nylander than go for Tanev he's signed for longer and younger.

Well count the leafs not one of them don't get me wrong he is a quality 4th line centre but at 4.35 million he is about 2 million overpayed on a good day.

Actually Manson will cost more seeing he's younger and signed for longer. Tanev is a solid dman when healthy but he usually is injured for long stretches of the season. So is the price from every team a top line forward or is it only cause it's the leafs?

If manson will cost more then why would you want to give up more. Your team has been interested in tanev and have been calling the canucks for the past 1.5 years for tanev. Manson is younger and may not have the veteran presence, poise, leadership, defensive abulities that tanev brings to the table...

Cause Manson is actually worth nylander. If VAN is shopping Tanev then a 1st, Brown and Rosen is what he's worth

Didn't expect the Leafs to want/ take him but I think "quality 4th line centre" is an understatement.

First, Brandon Sutter is fast. In a straight line, he can get up ice very quickly and at times has shown flashes off the rush.

Second, his wrist shot is really good. He can snap the puck quickly and somewhat accurately. Orienting himself in the offensive zone is another story. But, if he’s in the right spot, he can capitalize on most goaltenders.

Lastly, he can play adequately in a bottom six match-up role. A lot of people overstate Sutter’s defensive ability, but he does play well enough to be an average third line centre. On the Canucks, he gets the toughest match-ups.
