To be honest, I think the Oilers best course of action is to keep him... if he isn't happy and wants a trade (as the rumor goes), then the onus is on him to raise his trade value via better results. I just did this because it gives McLellan another option in the lineup - playing Strome at 2RW where he's had good results - 2.48 5v5 p/60 with Draisaitl, which translates into over 50 points in a season.

Also, this probably means Kailer Yamamoto starts in the minors, which seems prudent. If RW remains bare, Yamamoto likely wins an NHL job in training camp. I think he'll do well in the NHL, but it might be better to start him in the AHL at this time.

Oh come on.. teams wouldn't even take Lucic's contract for a 2nd round pick, let alone give up Kevin Hayes on top of it.

Zero chance. Lucic's contract is dismal, and Kevin Hayes would sign the same contract as Lucic's has left in a heartbeat and be far more productive. Why would a team trade a 2C whose value is on the rise, going into his prime, for an over 30, terrible contract with his value at pretty much the lowest it will ever be and a second round pick. Hayes is much more than a 2nd round pick better than Lucic, just at player value right now. Then you throw in his contract...

Oilers fans.. if PC could get anything of value for Lucic he would be gone already. its going to cost you to move him and you get a 7th back
