New York Islanders 18-19 Team

Created by: Hockeygoalie53
Team: 2018-19 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 6, 2018
Published: Jul. 6, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
My first crack at this, go easy!! lol
Trades are based off players rumored to be linked with the Isles or on the block - not sure if any of these trades would work, but these moves allow NYI to get better this year and still have some CAP room for moves next year and eventual Barzal extension in 2 years.

Trades
1.
NYI
  1. Duchene, Matt
Additional Details:
Reason: OTT takes Clutterbuck contract to help reach cap floor after shedding salaries of Duchene and Karlsson (seperate trade to TPL most likely)
2.
NYI
  1. Klefbom, Oscar
  2. 2019 3rd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Reason: EDM moves Klefbom to clear some CAP Space - Gets cheap replacement for Klefbom, plus potential top 6 FW and a potential top 4 defensive prospect as well.
EDM
  1. Dal Colle, Michael
  2. Pelech, Adam
  3. Toews, Devon
  4. 2020 1st round pick (NYI)
  5. 2021 3rd round pick (NYI)
3.
NYI
  1. Panarin, Artemi
  2. Wennberg, Alexander
  3. 2020 2nd round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
Reason: Panarin won't resign in CBJ and has already said his top choices are NY and FL. Wennberg and Ladd are a "change of scenery" type swap.
- 2020 2nd RD Pick is conditional to Lee signing extension in CBJ.
CBJ
  1. Bellows, Kieffer
  2. Ladd, Andrew
  3. Lee, Anders
  4. 2020 2nd round pick (NYI)
  5. 2021 1st round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Reason (my thoughts only): Lee declines to sign extension before season and NYI move him to avoid another Tavares situation
- Panarin signs 8yr 64mil extension - 8m AAV
- Ladd and Wennberg get swapped as "change of scenery" situation - CBJ saves some money in the long run.
- NYI agrees to send TOP prospect Bellows in return for taking Ladd as the "CofS" swap.
- 2021 1st is conditional to Panarin signing extension with NYI

Very ambitious effort for your first try, so I'm giving you four stars for that. Each of your trades should be considered in isolation, because if one of them went through, the Isles would not make the other two because nobody trades away their first-round picks three years in a row unless they're getting Marner and Nylander from the Leafs. But here's my biggest criticism: it's sep-A-rate, not sep-E-rate.

Haha, you're right on the separate thing... can't believe I missed that!!! As for the not trading away three 1st RD picks in a row in the same year... I don't know about that. I've read Lou has no problems trading picks away if it means getting proven talent. Plus, all guys acquired are either signed long term or agree to long term deals upon being acquired. Plus the Isles could move Eberle at the deadline to re-coup some picks if they feel Wahlstrom is ready to step in full time next year.

But thank you for your opinion and feedback!!!

I like the ideas but I think the Isles overpaid in all of the trades you created. No way Klefbom is worth Pelech + 1st + more. Also, Nelson, Ho-Sang, AND a 1st for Duchene? Seems like a bit much.

I like the lineup though.

Hmm, okay, I can see that. I was mostly going off what's been rumored to be asking prices for some of these guys. I guess in some spots the 1st Rd picks can be swapped out for 2nd or 3rd picks.... Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated!

I like the aggressiveness and like the others said, you gave up too much for each. That also means that you'd still have better players and/or more picks left so it'd look even better. That being said though, I wouldn't trade Anders Lee unless he refuses to extend this season. We've learned that lesson already, obviously. Also, we wouldn't be able to keep all of these players. Personally, I think Panarin is going to go to free agency and purely take the most money from whatever team offers him the moon.
