Description
Nucks need a 2C, what is the cheapest option...well it's signing a KHL player that is no longer under contract in the K to a reasonable NHL contract. As you all should know this is only a stopgap until the kids are ready to take over.

And no, you crazy turdss, you don't just throw a bunch of kids on the ice and hope they succeed like the Spoilers have done to their prospects. I like what Benning is doing, giving our prospects the best way to develop their game and get stronger.

Anyway the Gagner deal is either good or bad. It gives nucks another gritty player and gives rangers a bottom six center. I just feel Gagner is better suited for the east

Not unresaonable.
Still doesn't address the massive logjam on the backend with nowhere for Juolevi (he not ready) or Hughes to slot in if they are ready for the show.

Also, where is Pettersson?

I don't think I see the point for the Rangers, and the 2nd round pick is too high a price for the Rangers. It's not like we need to dump Beleskey's cap hit, and 2 years of Gagner doesn't do anything for us; we're not really going to be competitive until after that deal expires anyways, and we have forwards to play. Gagner doesn't crack our top 6, with KZB, Chytil, Zucc, Andersson, Namestnikov, and if we bring back Spooner and Hayes, then he's a 4th line winger for us. We might as well keep our 2nd and throw Beleskey on the 4th line, since we don't need to save money; we'd rather eat bad deals since we have some cap space.

I really don't know whether Pettersson is ready or not. I think Goldy must take this year to prove if he belongs or not. If Goldy cant do it then slot Petterson in there.

And this also gives nucks some additional assets for picks at deadline.

Ya I was undecided where to send him, but I was thinking if Rangers were going to be just sending Beleskey to minors then why not take a center for him with same money as I included retained salary. orginally had 3rd pick but wasnt sure

Pettersson is making the Canucks this year. He might start every game of the first 10 games like Boeser did this past year, but the expectation is he will be on the opening night roster.
I agree Goldy needs to prove himself but that won't be at the cost of Pettersson playing. The Canucks brass will prioritize Pets over everyone else on this roster short of Boeser and Horvat. I'd expect to see Baer get moved to give Goldy the chance and Sutter to

You still have not addressed the problems on the back end which are likely priority #1 with Hughes looking NHL ready right now, and the hope Juolevi can crack the roster as well.
And what additional assets does this give the Canucks to turn into picks at the deadline vs where they are now?

Toronto had at any given time two years ago 8 rookies in the lineup. This whole mentality that you need to have good vets to teach the kids otherwise Edmonton happens is fantasy. Edmonton sucks because they have only been about 50% successful at drafting 1st overall or the first round and have drafted incredibly poorly beyond that. The Canucks have drafted better than Edmonton but didn't do a good job of obtaining secondary assets. Its why the Leafs are so much further ahead than Vancouver. TO was able to get guys like Hyman, Carrick, Kapanen etc to be role players with the super stars they got lucky to draft. Vancouver just hasn't been able to find the same luck.
