Carolina doesn't need more Dmen, Scandella is more disposable than McCabe anyway

I thought Scandella was good? And it doesnt have to be McCabe who goes the other way. Maybe someone like Larsson or Wilson.

Bury Hunwick. Maybe someone claims him. Bogo is better. For 77 mil you'd think they would be a better team

I don't trade either 1st round pick. This is still a non-playoff team.

Scandella was only pushed into his top line spot because the Sabres had injuries and no depth. By the end of the year Guhle beat him out. McCabe out played Scandella, despite being hurt in training camp and eventually being shut down. Both Guhle and McCabe should be on the main roster this year plus Dahlin may be on the left side as well. Even if Dahlin wasn't, Guhle and McCabe will beat out Scandella in camp.

Exactly what I thought. Those 3 first round picks in that (expected) very deep draft would most likely set them up for the next 10 years while combined with their already great youth core (Eichel, Mittelstad, Reinhart, Dahlin, Ristolainen, Ullmark, Nylander). They're on the cusp of becoming a truly great team in 2 years. Keep your picks!

Edited Jul. 12, 2018 at 2:07 a.m.. Reason: Rewording
Thinking that Botterill will trade for a soon-to-be 30 year old winger in Pacioretty is inconsistent with recent remarks Botterill made. Whether or not Pacioretty would sign an extension with Buffalo is moot - Botterill thought O'Reilly was too old at 27 for fitting in with the young core so he's not going to trade assets for a player 2 years older and who will probably want a 5-6 year extension into the years when his skills will be declining. Botterill is already saddled with one such mistake in Okposo; adding another with Pacioretty makes no sense.

If a scoring winger is going to be traded for, I suspect Botterill would be more interested in the 25-26 year old range (i.e. Zucker, Skinner, Pearson, Niederreiter).
