Holy crap does this make sense. I dont know if the trade is fair given the size of it but Lou would absolutely take a run at this.

The Jackets don't want a bunch of crap for their two best players.

Panarin wants 10 million.

Congrats on getting a great winger and a top notch goalie.

This lineup would compete for a playoff spot but that bottom 6 can't compete with the top teams in the east. TO, Tampa and Pittsburgh would utterly destroy your bottom 6. TO's 4th line will be better than your 3rd line.

Trade seems a little tilted for Isles, although we did give 2 1st rounders so mayb is isn't so biased. Bottom 6 can def compete with other, but i dont like Nelson as #2 Center.

Is Columbus rebuilding?

If the answer is no, then why would they move their franchise goalie? That ends the trade right there...there's no incentive for Columbus, they would fall out of any sort of contention without a legitimate goalie.

because they have a backup that's ready to start and wont command a lot of money

Come on. Sure, it would be nice if that were true from the Islander perspective...but you don't really believe that, right? Korpisalo finished 8-8 with a 3.32 GAA/.897 SV%...on a team that finished 15 games over .500. He may be have potential, but he's far from a starter at this point, and many rungs down the ladder from supplanting one of the best goalies in the league.
