leafs are well stocked at LHD. having Klefbom doesn't really help. it's really an exchange of zaitseve and Faulk. leafs seem to giving up a lot got s just average two year rental

What my esteemed colleague is trying to say is that if you believe that the two defencemen are equal in skill (they're roughly equal economically), then why bother exchanging them since they play the same position (LD)? And if they're not, then by definition, one team is getting the better of the other.

On another note, the bottom line on your two trades is to add Faulk's cost to the payroll. That hinders your ability to sign Matthews, Marner and Kapanen next year. All of the sensible projections I have seen indicate that the Maple Leafs will need about $10M in cap space at the end of the 2018-2019 season to do that.
