Currently maybe not. But by 2022 I think Barzal will be a better player than Stamkos

2022 Stamkos will be almost 34 years old...Barzal will be 25 in his prime. I think this is a very fair statement, bold but fair.

Where is Patrice Bergeron. You know their #1 line will be Crosby-Marchand-Bergeron. As well, Toews will be on this team if the NHL is going to the 2022 Olympics. I liked the dynamic of Point-Marner-Konechy at the 2017 World Championships. Perhaps you replace Konechy with Hall? If Weber is healthy, I'd expect that he'd be on this team as well, even if he's there 6th D.

Barzal also played behind one of the best centers in the NHL, not seeing a lot of top tier D coming over the boards to try to shut him down. We'll see how he plays without Tavares. Furthermore, he played in a system where he barely had to glance in the general direction of his defensive end. He has offensive talent, but I don't think there will ever be a point in his career where he's ahead of stamkos on team canada while Stamkos is still playing.

Making an AGM like this requires a vast amount of speculation. I will speculate that Bergeron will not have lost a step by 2022, and because it's been so difficult to find Crosby wingers, and because Team Canada loves chemistry, they will do all they can to keep the Crosby-Bergeron-Marchand line together. Also, and I know this has been well documented, but some of Team Canada's Olympic staff, at least the management team from Sochi, does not like Subban's game. While I think he absolutely deserves to be there, there is a solid chance he may not be, or be the team's 7th D. This could, of course, all be moot, if Steve Yzerman and co does not come back in 2022.

I think Subban is the most overrated player in the NHL....but I hope you're spot on with Bergeron. He's a guy taht makes the game better.

I do agree with the Marchand-Crosby-Bergeron dynamic and that could factor into the selection of Bergeron, I was speculating that his injuries could pile up and potentially slow him down. I don't see Konecny on the team over Hall, especially if Hall continues to build on this past season. I like Weber but I feel that his overall speed has decreased and he may not be fast enough on the Olympic ice, but his current speed decline could just be the product of his recent injuries.

Yeah Barzal was a bit sheltered this year but he still put up over a point per game at 20 years old. He could experience some slumps this year but by the time 2022 rolls around I think he will be accustomed to playing against a teams top D man

Completely agree with that. It was frustrating me as I was creating this roster. I'm just not sure who can make the roster as a LHD, I probably could have included Muzzin over Parayko. Perhaps young guys like Chabot, Morrisey, or Chychrun take big strides in the next few years and find themselves in contention for spots, mainly due to the left handed shot factor
