Nylander for Trouba

Created by: NickC1988
Team: 2018-19 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 18, 2018
Published: Jul. 18, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Wheeler, Laine, Connor, Myers will all need raises. WPG has a surplus of RD. Nylander can fill the void of Wheeler if Wheeler decides to walk. Move Perrault/Little for LD help, this is easily the best offense in the league anyways. Little and Perrault will most likely have to be moved to afford the big extensions.

This is a win win trade for the teams, and even the players. Trouba will get more ice time in TOR, a win for Trouba. Nylander will get more ice time in WPG, a win for Nylander. TOR gets a top 4 RD they've been looking for that fits their age group and plays a solid 200 foot game, a win for TOR. WPG gets a solid 2C to replace Stastny that fits their age group as well, a win for WPG.

Don't you think the Jets would rather just pay Trouba 7 mill for 8 years instead of trading for Nylander when they have a bunch of young forwards?

Why would they do that to play him on the 3rd pairing like he's been behind Myers and Buff? It's dumb, and it's well known that WPG and Trouba don't have the best history together.

If we're just speaking in terms of "value", fair deal. But WIN turns this down easy. Their top 6 on the wing is already set with guys just as good (Ehlers, Connor) or even better (Laine, Wheeler). WIN just need to figure out how to keep everyone they already have, and they can contend year after year.

Trouba is on the number one shutdown pair with Morrisey. He's playing in front of Buff and Myers, not behind. And Myers is a UFA next season; can't see him sticking around if Trouba is there. Nylander probably wouldn't even make it into the Jets top 6...
